Avoid Birmingham tonight

Just waiting for my DH to get back from work. Rang him at 4 to tell him to leave. Journey should take 45 mins but thought it would take longer as roads near us completely unpassable because of snow. For some reason Birmingham just cannot cope. Why is this?

Dh is stuck in it too.

I told him at lunchtime he should leave work, but you know what men are like. It should take about 45 minutes - he left at about 3pm, rang me at 4.15 to say he was ten minutes away from home ... he's still there and has moved about 50 yards.

Poor DH was flying into BHX from Frankfurt. Just checked his flight had arrived ok as it has started snowing heavily here - Notts/Derbys - wanted to ring and warn him roads would likely be stuffed - only to find his flight has been diverted to Manchester.

He is going to be SO unimpressed, particularly since he arranges a taxi to pick him up at the airport. And I hope the taxi company checked for his flight before they left to collect him.

Aloha, Birmingham is a cool place to leave, even the FBI are taking up residence and we get real snow.

The roads were absolutely horrific today by the airport so perhaps the taxi company gave up anyway SueW.

They haven't phoned demanding money anyway!

He got home at around 11pm instead of 7pm.

we live by the airport and it took dh 6.5 hours to get from the Dartford Tunnel - 2 of those hours to get from Coventry which is about 15 minutes away
