worldgonewild · 05/02/2007 10:09

The leaders of the world's most polluting countries will be meeting in Germany this June. The priorities for this summit are being decided right now.

Your help is needed to make them hear us. Sign this global petition to tell world leaders that we need bold action on Climate Change NOW .

Thank you

Just listening to very depressing programme on Radio 4 about the melting ice-caps in Greenland.

worldgonewild · 06/02/2007 12:00

It's even more alarming when they talk about the ice melt influencing the deep ocean conveyor system that brings warm water up from the Carribean and across to the west coast of Scotland. The more the Artic melts the more likely it is that that system switches off. If Scotland thinks it's chilly now ....

I know. Everyone goes on about how hot the UK will get but it seems to me far more likely that it will become colder. If the de-salination of the oceans continues the Gulf Stream will switch off. It has happened before so this is not wild conjecture by any means.

I have heard predictions that polar bears will be extinct in another 50 years. How sad is that? It isn't something that I want to be responsible for either.

Merlin · 06/02/2007 12:20

Done. This is so important - everyone needs to take action - bumping for everyone to sign please.

Callisto · 07/02/2007 11:02

Only a dozen? That isn't many considering how many people use the forum and how important this is.

How do you figure out who has signed from here? I posted the link on British Expats and the response has been rather negative (whats the point, online petitions never work, can't change anything etc) so it would be interesting to see if any of the 40 odd people who have viewed the thread signed the petition.

worldgonewild · 07/02/2007 12:24

I can monitor no. of MN incoming links and no. going over to the petition site. But not for Brit Expats.

People who care for the issue sign the petition and those that aren't, won't. Yes, also many people these days would rather whinge about things around them rather than try to effect change (eg. get involved with their local community etc).

Some will argue that a petition (or a march) will make no difference at all. Fair enough! After all Blair totally ignored 1 million people marching against the Iraq war in London.

wotzsaname · 07/02/2007 14:40

I dont like being monitored! but i want to do my part.

worldgonewild · 07/02/2007 14:52

Not you personally! Just traffic.

... almost 20,000 ...

OP posts:
Callisto · 08/02/2007 09:19

Over 20,000 now but lots more needed...

Fauve · 08/02/2007 09:38

Signed it. People could do a swift email to their MP as well - only takes a minute, but any MP worth their salt will reply.

worldgonewild · 09/02/2007 10:08

Well done. Now at 35,000.

Dear all,

Please add your signature if you haven't already.
