NOthing will happen. He's not called Teflon Tone for nothing.

oliveoil · 01/02/2007 14:31

I want to know why there was a news blackout

I'm interested but not sure what to say. I feel really ashamed of the present govt and I don't think that we have a proper democratic process in the UK any more. TB has lied to the electorate and disregarded their wishes for 10 years and yet he is able to choose when to retire. The whole cabinet is a shambles but people only seem to care about big brother.

Gone off the subject rather. IMO it is pointless interviewing TB as he will just lie. No-one will ever go to court for the cash for peerages scandal even though we all know it happened.

NadineBaggott · 01/02/2007 14:38

Can this government sink any lower?

Callisto · 01/02/2007 14:38

Maybe he only agreed to be interviewed on condition that it wasn't reported then the police leaked it anyway 'cos they're all so pissed off with him.

oliveoil · 01/02/2007 14:38

I used to know Ruth Turner, the woman who was arrested the other week.

No doubt she or someone else will carry the can.

Fingers slapped possibly but nothing more. No-one will really be held accountable.

foxinsocks · 01/02/2007 14:41

at olive

I wish they'd just hurry up and get on with it (the inquiry).

Freckle · 01/02/2007 14:42

They did say that they wanted a news blackout so that Lord Levy wouldn't know that Tone had been interviewed a second time. Which says something about Lord Levy I think. What would have been different about his testimony if he'd known TB had had a second interview. Don't forget that he is facing a possible charge of conspiracy.

Callisto · 01/02/2007 14:43

I would imagine that the police are being very careful indeed about evidence and who and when to arrest. It is the sort of thing that has the potential to bring down the govt. We can live in hope I suppose.

Callisto · 01/02/2007 14:44

Makes more sense than my little theory Freckle.

foxinsocks · 01/02/2007 14:45

conspiracy? do you mean perverting the course of justice?

Lord Levy must have known what was going on - him being head funding honcho

SueW · 01/02/2007 14:47

I am sick of this govt too.

They have put through so many half-baked laws which will make it easy for any future bad govt to demolish the people in this country

e.g. compulsory DNA tests if you are taken into a police station, even if not subsequently charged with anything.

What if a Hitler-type comes into power? Oops - a list of all people who have any dna from any unwanted gene pool.

The power for the police to arrest and detain people virtually at will with very little evidence and hold them forever on the suspicion, however remote, that they may be a terrorist.

I heard this quote on tv the other day and it really struck a chord:

"They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security."
Benjamin Franklin

fairyjay · 01/02/2007 14:50

Do the police really believe that TB wouldn't have picked up the phone to Lord Levy, with or without a news blackout?

The whole thing stinks!

yellowrose · 01/02/2007 14:55

wers twts and liers the whole lot of them.

yellowrose · 01/02/2007 14:59

Isn't Lord Levy the tosser that got his secretary an OBE because she could type ever so well !

What the f* I can swear well, does that get me an OBE, MBE or FBE ?

paulaplumpbottom · 01/02/2007 15:56

Benjamin Franklin was a very wise man. I bet he is turning in his grave at the laws being put in place here and in the States.
