Gosh.
Wonder if she is breastfeeding him.
And if she is annoyed that she won't be able to use any of the little hats and cardigans his grandmas will have knitted.

Biglips · 01/02/2007 12:20

mine was 4.1kilos and thought she was massive

LadyOfTheFlowers · 01/02/2007 12:23

aaaw. he is lovely, just bigger.
10 12 was my heaviest naturally.
i wonder if the section was planned or she tried to deliver naturally?

donnie · 01/02/2007 13:23

good grief. When I think of the agony I endured both times and both mine were under 7lbs!

whatkatydidntdo · 01/02/2007 13:26

my biggest baby was 11lb 1oz (gas and air for pain reliefm no stitching)

On the day of birth all the other babies in the unit were 5lb -7lb, so he looked a giant against them!

Biglips · 01/02/2007 18:45

blimey and ouch!!

fuzzywuzzy · 01/02/2007 18:49

I read about thato nthe way home fro mwork today, God it made me cross my legs....ouch.!!!

ChicPea · 01/02/2007 18:58

Did the mother have gestational diabetes?

NotAnOtter · 01/02/2007 19:00

AZ`Qalppppppppp

CAMy · 01/02/2007 19:03

That child weighs more than both my babies put together.

Having said that my sister had twin boys who were 2 weeks overdue and weighed over 7 lbs each

VoodooWizbit · 01/02/2007 19:05

erm...my dd was 56cms at birth...

that length is nothing remarkable.....

lucky for me she was only 7lb 15oz

dotcotton · 01/02/2007 19:05

The one born in Italy! I just worked that out (not so hot on Kilos) That wa a 22 POUND baby.

Mine doesnt even weigh that at 10 months, how the bejeesus did that work??

maisiemog · 01/02/2007 19:12

He is pretty enormous. They did say something about blood suger, so perhaps his mother had gestational diabetes.
I don't think he is very cute personally.

madmarchhare · 01/02/2007 19:42

and they say that all heads are roughly the same size...?

Hulababy · 01/02/2007 19:50

Wow, that is big!

gingernut · 01/02/2007 19:57

If the mother had untreated gestational diabetes you would expect the baby to be suffering from low blood sugar though, wouldn't you? (because their bodies can make insulin, so while in the womb they are producing lots of insulin to compensate for the high maternal blood sugar level, then when they are born it takes a while for their bodies to adjust).
