I just saw this and wondered if there would be a thread. Surely you'd notice if you were missing your 6/7 year old?

I wonder/assume some stuff must be being left out to jump to abduction? Leaving the bike is odd but not stranger than someone not reporting the child missing.

StealthPolarBear · 25/08/2016 23:06

Yes I assumed it wad the bike that led to the report.
hope the story is child gets in parents van

So far no parent has actually reported a child missing. So it might be that the member of the public who witnessed this was mistake. Here's hoping...

StealthPolarBear · 26/08/2016 13:00

Anything more happened on this does anyone know

There is a press conference being held this afternoon at 3.30 so hopefully more information will made public.

ChocolateDoll · 26/08/2016 15:52

It's very odd!!

DiegeticMuch · 26/08/2016 17:33

The bike is one which all the local kids share, and is often left lying around apparently.

Still no report of a missing boy.

I think that the witness saw a family altercation (child ran off or broke curfew, parent understandably agitated) and misread it.

Or maybe there's stuff that's not being publicised by the police.

Tram10 · 27/08/2016 22:09

No more news on this, other than they believe the witness, and no child reported as missing in the UK.

motherducker · 27/08/2016 22:35

How weird Confused

SvalbardianPenguin · 28/08/2016 13:57

How odd. If a child is missing then I hope he is found.

eddiemairswife · 29/08/2016 12:00

Man charged with wasting police time.

DiegeticMuch · 29/08/2016 12:17

If convicted, he should be forced to foot the cost of the investigation. There's s difference between an honest mistake/overzealousness, and this.

Smidge001 · 29/08/2016 16:30

Absolutely. Headline made me think they'd arrested an abductor - glad I read the full story!!

There is another thread about it somewhere.

Here we are:

I find it interesting that someone suggesting that there wasn't a child at all got quite a 'telling off'.
