Naturalisation ?

I'm an EU national, I only work part time but I own a flat here. I've been here less than 2 years.
I saw it takes 5 years before you can start naturalisation process/apply for a citizenship, and obviously with the news I'm rather concerned.

I just realised, how/which documents can I use to prove I got here when I did? Is this the kind of thing my NI number could help with? Or? (I bought my flat about 8 months after I moved here)

Also, any other thoughts and suggestions would be great. I'm rather concerned.

No one knows yet what rules will apply to you, but you will have at least 2yrs + 4 months to get it sorted. Just have to wait & see.

If you've been working and paying taxes, then your pay slips and PAYE contributions would I think be good evidence of residence. I would also keep copies of things like electrity bills, rental agreements, bank statements etc.

When I first moved here, I registered with the HMRC as a new arrival from the EU in addition to getting an NI number. From what I heard on TV, you should be allowed to stay here if you came before the referendum. Although who knows what will actually happen...

I would advise you to have a look at the documents required to get the Permanent Residence Card. You will need that first before asking for the British citizenship anyway (plus that should give unrestricted stay in the UK).
You do need 5 years working in the UK but there are other possibilities (as family member etc etc).
Have a look at what documents they request. It's a lot of stuff and it will take time to out them together (as I have discovered myself....)

Re beeing able to stay if you were before the referendum... It migt well be (there is something about the fact you can't change things for people who were there when said treaty was applicable) BUT I wouldn't bank on that and would cover myself if you can.
