It's not about the disabled rights protection, it's about what the Tories will introduce - erosion of minimum wage/workers rights. Their attack on the disabled is the top of a very slippery slope.

I am aware that this has been happening since the introduction of pip. It got so bad that motability now give one off Grant payments of £2000 to those losing their motability vehicles as they clearly recognise that many of these people will still need a vehicle to function. There is no help with the running costs of any vehicle that they purchase with the £2000 though.

Well Maria Miller stated in Parliament that the point of moving from DLA to PIP was to cut payouts by 20%, so this has always been part of the plan.

IIRC, for ESA they changed a lot of the questions about stairs too, so that there was no way to record moderate difficulties.

People have used the European Court for a higher level of appeal in cases eg where disability care has been cut.

Eg McDonald v. the United Kingdom

Which is of course an example where "UK sovereignty" has been overridden, because the UK judgement was deemed to have conflicted with the disabled person's human rights.

Presumably it's also why some people hate the European Convention on Human Rights so much - because it enforces people's human rights.

Going by the summary above, the EU judgement seems quite a reasonable and thought through one.
