I think this sort of thing is quite common in SE Asia. Economic sexual exploitation of your own children is not unusual.
In some parts of Java, girls are basically raised to be prostitutes

Not to mention the Western sex tourists exploiting children, presumably often via their parents/families in Cambodia, Bali, Vietnam, et al.
