Am quite new to MN, this is my 1st thread so apologies if it's in the wrong place.

I am going to a meeting next week that has been organised by Legal Action for Women about forced separations of mothers and their children. I don't know how many MN's have been through the family courts - I haven't - but know quite a few mothers that have in the course of my job and am shocked that more & more women who have suffered DV have their children removed from them.

I thought others might want to know it's happening incase it's something they're interested in. Hope it's OK to post the link?

I think it's awful that children are separated from their mothers at such a terrifying time. I don't like to talk about it much but let's say my M&D had a very volatile relationship. Mum and I were always going to live with my DGM &DGD. I know if I'd have been taken into care. I'd have been hysterical. I was a very clingy child anyway, so to take me away from my mum, if I didn't know wether or not she was safe would have been catastrophic.
But yet children who are getting abused . They just leave there. Why weren't they wading in when baby Peter, Liam Fee Victoria Climbe and lots of others needed them.
