Confused
SqueegyBeckinheim · 17/04/2016 16:59

It's an awful story, but it's not a sign of the world going to hell, or that teenagers are getting more violent, it's just a single, horrible incident. Overall violent crime has been dropping substantially year on year since its peak in the 1970s, and these days teenagers are far less likely to be out causing trouble than in previous generations.

Really?
I can think of 4 recent violent murders by teenagers this year, is that better than it used to be?

It is terrible

Northernlurker · 17/04/2016 17:12

Given that this case will involve legal proceedings this thread is a very bad idea. Will report and can I suggest people don't speculate anymore?

BertieBotts · 17/04/2016 17:15

OP you should start a new thread if you want to discuss the wider issues. This kind of speculation about specific cases isn't allowed.

FWIW, I think there are always fucked up people. We just hear about it more these days. In fact, the level of violence in the world is reducing, it just doesn't feel like it.

IonaMumsnet · 17/04/2016 19:46

Hi folks. At this early stage, we're afraid we really don't think it's fair on either those arrested or the family and friends of the deceased to have this sort of speculation published online. We're going to delete any of these sorts of posts and would ask you to refrain from any further speculation for the time being, otherwise we may have to delete the entire thread. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
