Meningitis B vaccine - am desperate!!

Where can I get it?! I am desperately ringing every clinic whose phone number I can find. Please, please! Who has some?

(Am furious too because I specifically asked my GP about this a few months ago. My daughter was born in 2014 so wasn't given the NHS vaccine. My GP said that my daughter was up to date!!!!! If I'd known, I'd have got a private vaccination then and won't be in this desperate situation now. I could cry. And I know there are entry of other parents feeling just as desperate!

I've heard that Boots are offering the vaccine at £95 a go (so £190 in total) for over 2s

It says on that link it's unavailable, which seems to be the case pretty much everywhere I'm afraid OP. I've been trying to get it for my 2 year old so understand the frustration. I think at the moment it seems you have to wait. I have her name down on a couple of waitlists at private clinics near by but most said they aren't expecting stock until June.

Yes. I've just phoned Boots and, like everywhere else, they don't have any of the vaccine available. They said that the vaccine supplier is prioritising the NHS and no one else can have any! And we're not in the right age group to have it from the NHS. This is just insanity!! What does a woman have to do to get her 2 year old vaccinated?!!!!!

I'm in the same situation and it does seem that June is the earliest anywhere is going to get more stock.

OP, is there a reason you're desperate? I know it's something we all want, and the sooner the better, but you seem very anxious about this. If there's no vaccine, there's no vaccine.

Agree, although there is naturally a lot of media attention atm , afaik the disease is no more prevalent or contagious than previously. Are you normally this anxious regarding health or your dc? If you feel she is at higher risk you could speak to your gp and see if it could be expedited on nhs.

There's a need for the vaccine. But there's not enough to vaccinate everyone. That makes me feel desperate. Sorry!

Sounds like you need to calm down , as said above do you normally have health anxieties? I'm thinking about it but due to the press coverage over the last few days everyone has gone a bit crazy !

Your child is no more at risk than they were last month or last year. There's nothing more you can do right now.

It's a national shortage OP. And as far as im aware priority is being given to babies and children awaiting their second booster.

There isn't a sudden epidemic, it's been bought to your attention because two sets of very brave parents have forced this issue into the media spotlight.

I really understand your frustration, my DS is nearly 2 and I could kick myself as I've been faffing for months forgetting to book an appointment - now everyone I know (well, most) wants this vaccine for their child. What can you do?

To those people who have researched it , do you know if there are any side effects from it ?

It's a worldwide shortage and from what I've read, the suppliers have asked clinics not to take on any new private clients for the time being.

I had my dd1 vaccinated at a bupa hospital at the beginning of 2015. Gosh I never thought that the nhs approving it would monopolise all the stock. So glad I did it now even though still paying my credit card off - didn't care. My new dd was born just in the bracket of having it on the nhs thank goodness or else it would have cost over £600 for both children!!

Only side effect: my 3 year old who had it nearly a year ago still has a lump at the vaccine site. Baby doesn't seem to have any lumps on her legs that I can notice.
