Women's safety in Europe after Cologne

DavidTCDaviesMP · 08/02/2016 09:38

I have been invited onto Mumsnet to discuss the situation for women in Europe following the attacks in Cologne, and the challenge we face in Europe in trying to help millions of mainly young men, who are arriving in Europe from cultures which treat women very differently. I believe this is an issue which needs open discussion by political leaders yet is swept under the carpet. David Davies MP

Actually her repetition of left-wing social justice warrior propaganda views are mainstream on this particular website. In the GP? I'm not so sure. 4 million said "no thanks".

BillSykesDog · 18/02/2016 17:59

I'm still waiting for your list of countries oh emily.

emilybohemia · 18/02/2016 18:04

So Bill, you percieve people that 'agree' and support your petition to be those that don't support refugees? I'm sure that makes it look really attractive.

BillSykesDog · 18/02/2016 18:11

No emily I perceived that your comment suggested that people weren't supporting the petition because they share your pro refugee views. I was just pointing out that if the polls are to be believed most people don't. You're in a minority.

emilybohemia · 18/02/2016 18:12

What do foster families in Kent have to do with the child soldier Emma Thompson helped? All I can see is that services there are stretched and cildren often encountering hostility and complex bureaucracy.

BillSykesDog · 18/02/2016 18:31

Go on emily, if you keep on trawling back a few pages I'm sure you can find one or two shaky points you can have a stab at disputing. While you ignore all the other valid criticisms of your posts and requests for clarification.

emilybohemia · 18/02/2016 18:36

I think people are put off by the obvious xenophobia and irrational hate toward Muslims.

BillSykesDog · 18/02/2016 18:41

Hahaha. The petition is so very deliberately careful not to be xenophobic. It doesn't mention the race of those involved, it doesn't even ask for any action based on the religion/race/ethnicity of the people involved. It just talks about strengthening legislation on women's rights and if anything deliberately avoids the things you're claiming.

You're just trying to change the subject because you're incapable of engaging with or rebutting criticism of your views. You're very transparent emily.

Movingonmymind · 18/02/2016 18:42

@Emily- "have any of you"", what's with your constant attacks and hectoring of what, everybody on here? Like we're one lumpen, homogenous mass rather thsn hundreds of different people putting differeng views from you. Breathtakingly arrogant and wins you no friends, don't you see! Win hearts and minds, don't bludgeon people over the head with the (unfounded) righteousness of your views. Even if i agreed with you ;which I don't) i am so massively off -put by the manner of your posts

GraceKellysLeftArm · 18/02/2016 18:57

Oh dear emily - are you actually serious? You don't know what's happening with fostered "refugee" children in e.g., Kent (I choose Kent because it's been more reported there than elsewhere) ? Seriously? You don't know? And yet you wish others to open their homes.

What it has in common my dear is that not all children are equal in terms of behaviour - many of these children are deeply, deeply troubled - we're not talking about 50p going missing from your purse.

I find it hard to comprehend how ignorant you are in 2016 in the freedom of information age.

I also asked which countries (I assume there's more than one given the 1.6 billion) in which Islam is a predominant force gives women, children and gays equal rights with men. I'm genuinely interested to find out because then I'll understand more how we can help transform those falling below the mark.

GraceKellysLeftArm · 18/02/2016 18:59

Unfortunately a good handful of that list of celebs would definitely not support us - regressive left and all that. Lots of rending of cloth about which marginalized group to support - but when push came to shove would call us racist, grey-faced cake eaters. Wink

emilybohemia · 18/02/2016 18:59

But Bill, people will look at the content of the threads the petition has come from.

Movingon, there have been numerous xenophobic comments, Britt's standing out to me as especially noxious. The only comment picking up on them apart from me and TwistedReach was a 'ffs'. So perhaps not so much a homogenous mass, but certainly a group that doesn't much care if the far right hops on for the ride.

BillSykesDog · 18/02/2016 19:03

Oh so we're there again. There has been criticism of your views, inconsistencies and manipulations have been pointed out, and people have asked you to answer questions to back up you claims. You can't answer them. So you're just falling back on the old 'You're all raaaaaaacists' to cover up your complete lack of coherent argument.

Cellardoor1 · 18/02/2016 19:07

Grace I actually don't know what's happened in Kent re foster children. Do you have any links?

Inkanta · 18/02/2016 19:10

Bill you're on it today. No flies on you kid! ;)

GraceKellysLeftArm · 18/02/2016 19:17

hi cellar - sorry I don't want to do much in the way of googling because the words you have to punch in bring up results you don't even want to skim read. But in a nutshell, you might not want to foster a "child refugee" if you have a pubescent daughter in the house. Or perhaps even a son. Or perhaps even be in the house yourself if your partner is out.

Unfortunately a too frequent scenario in that male claims to be of x age, long-term and known foster carer to KCC (Kent County Council) takes emergency placement of poor, displaced child. Child turns out to be grown man who abuses family child(ren).

That doesn't take into account either the children who have been through god knows what trauma but do not understand what is "normal" anymore. :(

It was spoken about on one of the main boards on AIBU/Chat at some point - sorry, I can't remember when.

BrittEkland · 18/02/2016 19:19

I agree, Grace - the luvvies wont support. Just reproducing the lists I can see in old threads.

I am also adding:

Dr Taj Hargey, Chairman of the Muslim Educational Centre, Oxford.
Andrew Neil @afneil
Maajid Nawaz @MaajidNawaz
Jon Snow @jonsnowC4
Nazir Afzal, ex head of CPS NW England.
Masih Alinejad, Iranian journalist - Facebook page “My Stealthy Freedom” has 1 million followers.

LumelaMme · 18/02/2016 19:20

Britt is far right according to emily?
Reported.

Coldwatebay · 18/02/2016 19:22

Grace - I can sadly corroborate that, as a foster carer

Inkanta · 18/02/2016 19:27

Everybody take note!!

How to deal with a poster like Emily - watch how Bill does it man-to-man.

Let Bill be your role model today.

Thank you. Thanks

Cellardoor1 · 18/02/2016 19:28

Grace, thats horrible. I genuinely hadn't heard about any of that. Yet some on here call others "abhorrent" because they don't want to expose children to abuse. Where is the condemnation of the actual abusers?

BrittEkland · 18/02/2016 19:28

"Britt is far right according to emily?" What with my background, Lumela?! Dearie me. Will her vendetta ever stop.
