hmmmm,

so you think this 2nd guy did it, and that tom stephens is telling the truth?

or they both did it together?

morbidly intruiging,

i just hope its one of the two, so we at least know this monsters off the street

ernest · 19/12/2006 11:21

he is a totally sick bastard whether he did it or not, judging by the bbc interview broadcast last night. The way he was talking about the women, and phoning up the mother of one of the victims, omg it made my skin crawl.

cyrilthefestivesquirrel · 19/12/2006 11:33

apparently he threw a party when he moved into his new home and all these 5 women were there as well as a few of his friends (I wonder if this man is a friend)

He also lived in bedsits in central Ipswich before moving to Trimley. London Road is central Ipswich so this man may be someone he used to live with.

RanToTheHills · 19/12/2006 12:11

don't reckon it is the first guy, though who knows? Early days and it is likely to be someone whom they knew well so he fits the bill. But he didn't sound a killer to me, odd & disturbed and a kerb-crawler, yes, but that doesn't make him automatically guilty.

UnquietDad · 19/12/2006 22:56

The second guy is called Stephen Wright, according to BBC News page. That'll give the afternoon on Radio 2 an uncomfortable feel!

(Seriously, have you ever had that? Someone in the news who is very well-known for being accused/convicted of something awful and it's your name? My name is unusual enough for it not to have hapened, but there must be hundreds of nice guys called, say, Ian Huntley up and down the country who cringed....)

cyrilthefestivesquirrel · 21/12/2006 22:22

Steve Wright has been charged with all 5 murders.

Tom Stephens has been released on bail.

paulaplumpbottom · 21/12/2006 22:26

So I don't get it do they think they are both guilty?

cyrilthefestivesquirrel · 21/12/2006 22:29

No, not Stephens but he is still under investigation.

paulaplumpbottom · 21/12/2006 22:32

Its always the normal ones though isn't it? Not the weird guy who hangs out with the prostitutes, it'll be the upstanding family guy.

MerryPiffmas · 21/12/2006 22:32

Yep pretty umm bizarre behaviours driving prostitutes aroudn to get their drugs and so forth, he may have been pimping for all we know.
He certainly seems to live on another planet judging by his public interviews - I had pegged him as a fantasist at least...
On paper today said this 2nd chap Wright, knew Suzy Lamplugh as well?

cyrilthefestivesquirrel · 21/12/2006 22:33

I reckon Stephens knew Wright did it. They arrested Wright only a few hours after they started questioning Stephens.

mummy23 · 21/12/2006 22:35

Stephens wrights has been charged with Murder they just announced on the news

mummy23 · 21/12/2006 22:36

Sorry ment to type stephen/steven wright[lush]

paulaplumpbottom · 21/12/2006 22:41

Thats an interesting theory

cyrilthefestivesquirrel · 21/12/2006 22:42

I do think they know each other.

Stephens seems a bit of a fantasist to me.

charliecat · 21/12/2006 22:42

Thye have dragged both of these men through the gutters havent they?

cyrilthefestivesquirrel · 21/12/2006 22:44

I just hope that all the media coverage doesn't affect any court case

JanH · 21/12/2006 22:46

The Wright arrest was from DNA found where the bodies were left, wasn't it? Nothing to do with Stephens - the timing was a coincidence.

The Lamplugh thing was from them both working on the QE2 - I think since he was charged the details have been dropped from websites but from what I read earlier it was a very vague connection.

cyrilthefestivesquirrel · 21/12/2006 22:47

oh I didn't know that had DNA JanH. It may well have been a coincidence but Ipswich isn't a big place, I just wondered if all the 'weirdos' knew each other

paulaplumpbottom · 21/12/2006 22:47

I agree that he is a weird fantatists but I don't know why I just don't think he did it.

southeastastra · 21/12/2006 22:47

i'm lost so why is the bbc not naming the first man arrested anymore, they named him days ago..

curiosity · 21/12/2006 22:48

Who's dragged both of the men through the gutter?

MerryPiffmas · 21/12/2006 22:49

Jan I saw the headline as we were filling the car with petrol, never knew on what basis and figured it was tenuous as it was in tabloid I think.
How freaky for his ex wives and kids and current partner though.

cyrilthefestivesquirrel · 21/12/2006 22:50

The police aren't naming him. I'm not sure about the BBC.

JanH · 21/12/2006 22:50

BBC is still naming Stephens but he has been released.
