Yet another MP - rumours abound

Long-standing whispers about a certain high profile MP (last name is a short word rhyming with a washing detergent) being involved (or at least protecting) those involved in CSA.

From the web, it sounds like these rumours are about to become public.

Without wanting to presume his guilt, how many of the Establishment are implicated FFS?

Well quite a few of those implicated so far have been cleared. Being implicated and actually being involved seem to be two very different things.

And when you say "yet another MP", can you remind me how many MPs have been found to be involved. I can think of two dead ones and that's it.

It's not just MP's though, is it? It is the 'elite' who seem to think they will get away with it. Politicians (not just MP's), business leaders, people in the media etc etc.

And the major enquiries are still ongoing, so you are correct that there are not huge numbers yet found guilty. However, plenty of people have - if not of CSA, then abuse of women.

I'm not becoming habituated to it - it is still shocking.

Who has been cleared? Most of the investigations are still ongoing I thought?

Several high profile people have been cleared in court e.g Gambacini and Fox. Several deceased politicians were named and then, after their names were tarnished, the police decided there was no case to investigate e.g McAlpine and Brittan.

I'm not say CSA didn't happen at top levels. It clearly did e.g Saville, Cyril Smith and Janner. However, there is now a witch hunt with people delighting in publicising rumours, those rumours destroying the accused, and the publicity hampering investigations.

It's right that a lot of money is being put into police investigations. It's right that there is also an inquiry. But let those things happen without hampering them. One way of hampering investigations is to spread rumours on the Internet. The accused will find it easier to fight their case in court if rumours abounded before arrest, so you risk helping the guilty walk free. And if the accused is innocent you risk ruining their lives.
