Mass sexual assaults in Cologne on New Years Eve

I've just read this and I'm shocked that such a thing could happen. A group of around 1,000 men gathered and assaulted at least 60 women and girls and also pickpocketed people. Apparently the news wasn't released until now out of fears it could stir up tension as the men appeared to be of Arab/North African appearance, possibly refugees.

They disagree with them because their mothers and fathers, uncles and other clan members don't foster Western values when raising their children.

It is problem that is brought in by migrants from Muslim countries. It is a problem that is enabled by a lack of political ability to deal with mass immigration and globalisation. The next few decades should become increasingly difficult for all. The years of relative peace we have been blessed with in Europe since WWII are over.

I'll say they're not as stringent! Unwanted groping is not sexual assault as defined by §§177 et sec. of the StGB (penal code), nor is it even defamation as defined by §185 StGB. for German readers

I find it no co-incidence that two of the more ignorant vocal posters on this thread have only this thread and another regarding immigration to their names.

In the ME women are not seen on the streets in the evening unless accompanied by a man, and never at night. If a woman does go out unaccompanied at, say, 8pm she is insulted and told to go back home to feed her family, or treated as a prostitute.

Do people really believe this?

There does appear to be some mass social engineering taking place. Why they would want this, is anybody's guess. Do they believe that they won't be taken down with the rest of us? Where will they retreat to?

"Hard fought for freedoms from the two world wars just thrown away." I have no idea what to do with this statement. You do know that Germany lost both of those wars, don't you? And I'm no historian, but afaik, neither of them was fought for women's rights.

The problem as I see it, is that many don't WANT to integrate. They don't WANT to adopt our morals or our values. They want to impose their way of life on our modern way of life. So, I'm not sure how you could force encourage them to change?
This is why I think their culture is just not compatible with European culture.
It's desperately sad. It's heartbreaking to see refugees fleeing their country of origin. But it's equally heartbreaking to think that we are at risk of being dragged into the dark ages.

I haven't read the updated thread in full so this may have been said already...I have mixed feelings about this thread. The good news news is that many, many people seem to have come to the same conclusions. The bad news is that, as somebody said upthread, we are screwed. In an effort to understand the seemingly sheer madness engulfing Europe recently, I have been doing a lot of reading, which seems to be what everyone else has been doing too! Some of the things out there will make your hair stand on end but in a nutshell, the global population projections for the next 30 years or so suggest that our westernised, liberal way of life is finished. My personal opinion is that our politicians know this and have decided to enrich themselves while they have the chance hence the deals, mad decisions, turning a blind eye, failing to uphold values. No-one is looking beyond 2050.

Essentially, the allies were willing to sacrifice the social status quo in the pursuit of victory (even though they tried to turn the clock back afterwards) while enshrining that status quo was one of the ideological foundations of Nazism.

Meph - fascinating yes, but I don't see how that's in any way relevant. The Allied forces had no intention of introducing women to the industrial labour force on a permanant basis or on a global scale. The GI Bill turned back the clock on Rosie the Riveter, her job was given to returning war veterans and women went straight back to being mothers and housewives. Anyway, I would be happy to discuss this with you elsewhere, but I think we might be derailing this thread.

Yes, that is exactly what it means. It is the finish of the European way of life as we know it. Around 2050 we will be entering the second Dark Age. There is nowhere to run to either.

Mephistopheles - that is very interesting. I wanted to say something similar earlier but thought I might be way off the mark. My experience of Germany is that deep cultural 'Kinder, Kuche. Kirche' is very much still there and stretches all the way back to the culture of Germany before WWII. It has not in a deep fundamental way changed. The idea of a perfect 'HausFrau' is still there.

Germany has the appearance of equality for women but it is a sham. Women in business who do reach the very top are shunted into the advisory boards of companies where they have no power. The executive boards dominated totally by men make the decisions.

Yes women can have jobs as my German female friend has. She is a highly trained specialist medical doctor but still constrained by society looking after the children because children finish school at 1 pm so she cant have a full time job.

There is still a very strong 'old boys' network in Germany cemented by things like fraternity societies at the old universities. Where you work and whether you get promoted depends entirely on a strict hierarchical deference to the 'old boys' above you in the network. Challenging the hierarchy (read patriarchy) is not good for your career if you are a man and not possible if you are a woman. The only women that succeed are married to well connected men.

I'm talking about democratic freedom swan, which Germany has adopted too regardless of them losing the wars.

The EU is a liberal democracy....... allegedly
