Flooding in Yorkshire/Lancashire

I'm originally from the area of the country currently hit by flooding. My FB feed is full of pictures of flood water. I've never seen it this bad before. It looks horrendous.

My sister has lost her garden shed - it has been swept away by the river. I visited her in mid-December, it was wet then, and it has barely stopped raining since. Fortunately the river isn't near her house (they have a steep, terraced garden), but I don't think they will be attempting to go anywhere for a while.

I live on the fylde coast about a mile and half from the sea. next doors garden is under a foot of water in places.
It's a bit worrying
All the houses are built on sand and the new housing estate has sunk a couple of feet recently. They have a huge ornamental pond that is actually a pump to ump out the water so the houses don't sink
I'm not worried about flooding, more about subsidence especially with all the fracking. The fracking didn't cause the earthquakes we had apparently

If you mean the two small tremors near Blackpool in 2011 they were caused by fracking. There is no fracking going on in Lancashire currently.

There are no documented cases of fracking causing subsidence or tremors large enough to cause damage at the surface. Fracking does not remove large quantities of rock which could cause subsidence. Shale rock does not compress easily so subsidence is unlikely.

There is some flooding in my area (near Ormskirk) and some people further down my road have put sandbags out.

Really bad flooding in and around York.

Took almost 3 hours to do a 35 minute journey because so many roads (several of them major A roads) flooded. Had to turn back and try a different way numerous times. Even the 4x4's not able to get through.

Many fields around the vale of York are flooded and water is pouring up through manholes in several flooded villages I passed.

Have never seen it like this before.

I am not far from prh although from what I have heard and seen on Facebook I don't think I could get to ormskirk at the moment.

It makes me wonder - if you want pollution, earthquakes and disruption then go for deep mining coal, but there are outcries because mines close. The comparatively safer and cleaner fracking causes an outcry when someone wants to start it.
