How do jellyfish that are normally found off the coast of California.....

If the were native to the US Eastern seaboard you could see it. but California?

It's been really wierd lately (since el nino I think) during the summer in Cornwall - sharks aplenty and strange jellyfish.
Not sure how it happens - would it be the Gulf Stream / big current I can't remember the name of which results in the microclimate in the Scilly Isles?
