He's still going to make programs for the BBC, he's just resigned as artistic director.
It does sound a bit dodgy, he was phoning Newsnight before they broadcast items about Kids Company.

His failure still has a 6 figure salary

I'm sure I read recently that he has several roles at the Beeb, so resigning from one means nothing.
