Comments in Israel

"In Johnson’s own words, the 'only democracy in the region… a pluralist, open society' is one that oppresses citizens, confiscates land, demolishes homes, detains children, and violates international humanitarian and human rights law on a daily basis. We, at Sharek Youth Forum, refuse to give a platform to someone who fails to acknowledge our very existence as Palestinians.

He's put his foot in it again! Why say that now? It could have waited until he got out of the country? Just heard him on the radio, sounded really nervous!

and the bit about snaggle toothed corduroy wearing lefty academics - presumably he doesn't think many of them would vote for him anyway!

What do you think sam? I reckon he's gone too far this time, bang goes his chances of being PM.

um, tbf, the university academics union had a long-running boycott of Israel for ages, may still be going. This even extended to academic cooperation at one point which isn't really a great way to influence people.

Thing about academics is we're supposed to make decisions based on logic or evidence.

But he's right.

ThruUlikeAshortcut · 11/11/2015 23:23

He may be right Beloved -but to say something in such a volatile area was stupid! He's put a lot of lives in danger, meaning those surrounding him and even the journalists following him around.

He should have kept his opinions to himself!

Love Boris!

He didn't say anything against the Palestinians or the Palestinian cause.

Just against BDS and the loony left in the UK. And he's spot on.

Why should his life be in danger because he spoke out against boycotting Israel and dared to call it a democracy?
