its not much of a link but awful to think a simple mistake caused the death of the little baby.

I read this in the paper at work; very sad

Wonder why they felt it necessary to mention the child was placed on the child protection register because the mum wasn't coping.

"She had been put on the child protection register after her mum admitted she couldn't cope".

What has that got to do with it.

BooWho · 06/12/2006 19:29

That's what I thought nutcracker. No need to mention that at all.

What's the lesson? be good at DIY or don't have kids?

Poor family

IHateChristmas · 06/12/2006 19:43

Does this mean all children of mothers that are finding it 'hard to cope' will automatically be placed on the child protection register?

Does this mean women with depression or similar, that have sought help from their GP's/HV's will automatically have their kids placed on the child protection register?

A two year old child died after becoming trapped in the side of her bed not so long ago - sometimes accidents just happen, but it's so incredibly sad.

we don't know all the facts here; you don't get put on the register for failing to cope. I suspect the Mum had made some other fairly serious errors, which were attributed to her inability to cope. Maybe she had special needs herself, or severe PND, or another 6 kids and no family support.....

IHateChristmas · 06/12/2006 20:17

Very true. The paper shouldn't have printed about her not coping etc, but that's the sun for you, or was it the mirror. both trash.
