Has anyone seen this case in the news?

www.westerndailypress.co.uk/Swindon-babysitter-paedophile-Jade-Hatt-judge/story-27924480-detail/story.html

So she has sex with an 11 year old but it was OK because he was "up for it" according to his dad (who I read on the DM page had also had a sexual relationship with her).

It beggars belief that she was treated with such leniency IMO. I also hope that Children's Services are involved with the boy and his dad who seem to have some dysfunctional attitudes - how can any child of 11 be "sex mad"?!

I think it's very worrying.

There would be murder If that was my son.

Bellemere · 05/10/2015 18:03

I really cannot understand this case at all. Utter madness.

Oswin · 05/10/2015 18:04

Oh my, that is horrible. Awful. How can he stand in court and say that. Poor kid.

mrstweefromtweesville · 05/10/2015 18:05

I don't know what to say. It's quite horrific.

Trooperslane · 05/10/2015 18:10

I felt sick when I read that.

An 11 year old CAN'T consent, surely.

MissEeerie · 05/10/2015 18:10

I read this earlier. I'm still 'WTAF?'

BarbarianMum · 05/10/2015 21:26

Judges, gotta love them. Still upholding the fallacy that children can consent to sex Angry

ScrambledSmegs · 05/10/2015 21:28

What?! His father is seriously messed up. What the hell?

scatterthenuns · 05/10/2015 21:29

That Dad isn't fit to parent.

Pooseyfrumpture · 05/10/2015 21:30

Why wasn't his father prosecuted for abuse as well?

Mintyy · 05/10/2015 21:33

I was so upset when I read that story. That little boy has been utterly failed by his parents.

BetLynchsBeehive · 05/10/2015 21:36

I can't understand the judgement.

Sidge · 05/10/2015 21:45

I'm glad I'm not the only one that just went "WTAF?" when I read it.

She may not have received a custodial sentence but I seriously hope there is some heavy SW involvement with that family.

That little boy has been utterly failed by his parents. And by the rest of society it would seem Sad

JeffsanArsehole · 05/10/2015 21:48

I'd prosecute the father for abuse

And I'd sling her in jail for a 5 year sentence. I can't even imagine someone describing a girl as 'sex mad' and saying she consented - oh wait, I can - we call them paedophiles

So dads a paedophile in my view

BarbarianMum · 05/10/2015 21:57

Is it possible to put in a complaint about the judge, does anyone know?

AnyoneButAndre · 05/10/2015 22:00

When I first saw this I was utterly baffled by the father's behaviour but if he was having sex with the perpetrator it starts to make a horrible sort of sense. I'd lock them both up.

QueenLaBeefah · 05/10/2015 22:03

She really should have been given a prison sentence

And the dad's parenting skills are dubious at best.

Redcrayons · 05/10/2015 22:07

I'd want to rip her head off it that was my 11 year old. WTF is this man thinking.

ICantFindAFreeNickName2 · 05/10/2015 22:07

I was shocked too. If it was a 11 year old girl & a 21 year old man, the sentence would have been completely different.

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 05/10/2015 22:11

The poor 11 year old said AT THE TIME that he knew it was wrong and didn't enjoy it.

So how the judge has gone on the dad's say so that his son is 'a bit of a lad' who was 'well up for it' is truly disgusting. At 11! Any decent parent, thinking their 11 year old was 'well up for sex' would be seeking assistance and support from services - not cheering them on from the sidelines.

Fissues · 05/10/2015 22:40

Also had an enraged WTAF response to this - how on earth any 11 year old can consent to sex (especially to somebody 10 years older than them, not that age is relevant) is beyond me.

I know we're not privy to all the facts but I've racked my brain and cannot think of any extenuating circumstances that would make this sentence appropriate.

Blu · 05/10/2015 22:41

"A notch in his belt "???
That just about sums up the way sexist crap has led to this poor boy being so badly let down by the judge and his father and their whaay-hay attitude .

Revolting.

That boy should be allowed to sue .

DioneTheDiabolist · 05/10/2015 22:50

I think our judges need to be educated on child sex abuse and its repercussions. It seems like not a week hoes by without one making fuckwitted decisions that let victims and the public down.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/10/2015 23:54

HTF. Can an 11 year old baby be up for sex with a 21 year old. How could his father defend this women. Advocating the abuse of his own child, not only should that predator of a woman have been jailed. So should he.( The father.) And to me it is a very serious safe guarding issue that this child is still in his care.
It does also beg the question. WTF was the judge thinking of. After all he/she decides the sentence.
This world really is crazier than a shit house rat.
