Just that really. She would have been 54 today.

In The News? Really? Even the Daily Express has dropped Diana from their front pages these days.

I don't think "Happy Birthday" wishes to any person who's been dead for over a decade can ever be appropriate. It's just wrong.

Ive just read it too. I loved her back in the day.

Goggirl · 01/07/2015 20:04

I don't think its inappropriate. Lots of news sites are referring to today being her birthday.

It is my birthday today and I can remember my 16th. Not old enough to go to pubs but too old for child stuff.
I saw the wonderful party arrangements for her 21st birthday and was so envious and wished I was her with her lovely grand party.
Every year the celebrations were mentioned on tv and I was still envious she was having much more fun than me.
When she died I had a short sharp shock in the realisation that being envious and wanting what others had wasn't always wise.
She was a lovely beautiful person in life.
Now she is gone and we should remember her, but birthdays die along with the person
I hope she is RIP.

Happy Birthday morethan.
I don't think that just because a person has died that we ever forget their birthdays though.

Redglitter · 01/07/2015 20:19

personally I think that's just odd. It's not as if a 54th birthday is a special one. Do people commemorate the birthday of someone they don't know and who's been dead for years often Hmm

Milllii · 01/07/2015 20:47

Well the media do if it was someone newsworthy. Estee Lauders birthday today too and there is an article wishing her a Happy Birthday. Michael Jacksons soon. I think its nice that people are still remembered.

I do get a slight jolt though, when I realise how much time has passed and how old she would be.

And also I was horrified when I realise I was now older than she was when she died.

Potato, you shouldn't have been envious of those birthday parties. She had a very sad life and lots of problems emotionally. Don't think the money made up for that really.

Taytocrisps · 06/07/2015 13:20

I also think it's a bit odd to with someone a happy birthday when they're dead and can't enjoy a happy birthday.

Having said that, I would remember people on their birthday and think of them but I wouldn't wish them a happy birthday.
