He's having none of my turkey, (hang on a minute, I don't even eat turkey), OK, none of my Xmas pudding then.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/11/2006 23:16

He's a w**r all right.
So i'm going to get a whole 4p out of every pound i had stolen from me. Bloody great. Crap at maths but i reckon i'll get 28.00 quid.Merry feckin Christmas

worldgonewild · 17/11/2006 08:06

Where does he live? Time for a vigal. Bet his house(s) are worth something. Oh, and then there's the banks who pulled the plug. Someone told me they've got several billions in their vaults.

edam · 17/11/2006 08:08

VVQ, it's the Farepak scandal. Fat cat bosses walk away with the loot, low-income savers lose their Christmas money.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 17/11/2006 10:18

Crikey - how have i missed this? I know nothing about it...

VeniVidiVickiQV · 17/11/2006 10:18

Hang on, this isnt "Sir" Clive Thomson, is it?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 17/11/2006 10:36

Oh it is.....

How awful. Although unsurprising judging by his track record. He's absolutely loaded too, from what i understand.

LieselVonTrapp · 18/11/2006 10:19

When is he coming back - should we all meet him at the airport to welcome him back.

OP posts:
worldgonewild · 18/11/2006 10:57

...with handcuffs.

Fattymumma · 18/11/2006 11:01

My mum was a farepak victim she lost £700 and has 6 kids under 16 living at home.

she is now back on the AD's following his company going under, its a lot worse than just ruining christmas he has ruined lives!

the man should be made accountable for his actions. how can a firm that was paid for everything up frnt go bust? it just makes no sense at all, someone somewhere must have cocked up enormously.

so mum will get about £30 back then?? well thats a turkey then

VeniVidiVickiQV · 18/11/2006 14:31

They were using the upfront money to clear an overdraft created by the company that owns farepak. (Farepak itself seems like a pretty genuine set up - its their parent company that took them over that is the problem). They knew in August that they couldnt fulfill their obligations to customers but continued to take money up until October 13th. That is what makes it 100 times worse - they knew they were going under, but didnt stop taking peoples money.

HE has a history I believe, and left the last company he worked for under a bit of a cloud, allegedly....

Sadly, they were ripping people off in the first place. By taking their money, not paying interest, and charging more than you'd pay if you bought the products in the High Street. To steal people's money on top of that is just beyond belief.

edam · 18/11/2006 14:54

He should be stripped of his knighthood, for a start.
