Climate Change.....who cares?

Climate change. It's in the news constantly, everywhere you turn. Do we give a damn? .....

....What do you think is the best way to tackle climate change? Finally you can take part in a poll . You'll find it on the right hand side of the site.

P.S. There may even be a prize; a 4X4 or a return trip to NZ!

Have done this - will anyone actully look at the results?

worldgonewild · 15/11/2006 07:41

Thanks VM.

There has been a good response to the poll. Would like to see a lot of people from MN take part in this as environment issues have been widely discussed here.

It would be nice to have more than 100 people take part (a professional polling organisation goes for 1000 but obviously we have no budget!). I have a sub-editor friend at The Guardian who may stick in G2 somewhere. Probably send it off to Ken & Tony as well (without the 'Nuke the US' option, obviously . Two people have actually voted for it ).

i've done it too. not very many people have done it so far tho.

flutterbee · 15/11/2006 10:50

I'm very interested in it at the moment as I am having to write an essay with the title......Is global warming the biggest threat to the suvival of mankind, discuss.

worldgonewild · 15/11/2006 11:01

The poll was only put up yesterday. Please link it to other forums if appropriate and/or email any friends/colleagues if you think they would like to take part. Ta.

at nuke the US. Interesting essay topic Flutter. You ought to 'publish' it on MN when you've finished it.

worldgonewild · 15/11/2006 12:38

Yes, the 'nuke the US' option has proved surprisingly popular! That's the 'frustrated with Bush not signing up to Kyoto option' within the poll .

Flutterbee, who are you studying with (the OU?).

Hello, some of us who live in the US are a) not American and b) are already fighting over here for the environment . So don't nuke me just yet. Change is coming guys remember the Democrats rule the roost now in both Senate and Congress and Bush is on his way out.

ruty · 15/11/2006 17:44

i didn't vote to nuke the States Alibaldi! I look forward to seeing Bush's comeuppance politically tho...

worldgonewild · 15/11/2006 19:24

Hi Alibaldi

Yes it is certainly looking up in the US since the mid-terms kicked Bush's 'arse'. Some detailed updates on committee changes that should bode well for the environment here

Finger off the button!

Thanks guys, breathes heavy sigh of relief. The good news is that the Democrats from Colorado (yahoo) are pushing to get Bush to up the ante on the environment. All events here are zero waste - i.e. all recylced and kids are taught about it in school. We're all fighting to preserve the beauty of the Rocky Mountain National Park, so hands of Bush. Thanks for the link

ruty · 16/11/2006 10:10

just wait for the smear campaign for whichever Democrat gets into office.

worldgonewild · 16/11/2006 13:29

smear campaign (?)

Yes, I can see it now; Hilary caught smoking !

OP posts:
ruty · 16/11/2006 14:40

bit harsh! [looks more like Barbara Bush]

worldgonewild · 16/11/2006 19:12

Ya so right. Hillary is the dame that needs to drag America out of the '50s white male syndrome' in 2008.

It's the 'God Bless Hillary' campaign. Lets start it now!

Thank you to all who have taken part in the 'Climate Change' /link{www.environmentdebate.blogspot.com\poll} so far. There has been a fantastic response. It's still open if others wish to contribute.

great stuff

paulaplumpbottom · 19/11/2006 17:46

The democrats didn't do anything for the enviroment when they were in office before. Not anything signifigant anyway. If the democrats were really on fire for the enviroment they would give that quack Nader consideration.

Hillary in office????? My worst nightmare.

worldgonewild · 19/11/2006 18:19

One last push!

Thank you to all of you who have voted already. The 'climate change' poll needs just 10 more voters to hit 100. Please take just 30 seconds of your time to select your choices. The poll is on the right hand side of the site .
