Can't believe he is out after only 6 years! British justice is far too nice.

I will never understand why the system gives out such easy sentences for child killers.

I saw yesterday that an 8 year old girl was killed, had 50 injuries on her body too and those responsible were given eight and four years each. That means out after four and two if well behaved!

So upsetting that robbers get longer sentences than cruel, evil child killers.

So now that the new identity is outed it will take a lot of money and effort to start them again.

Why do people have such contempt for the legal process?

It's his money though. Not the taxpayers.

He wasn't given an official new identity, just changed his name himself.

What those three did to Peter Connelly was utterly sickening. The fact that he's been able to leave jail, have plastic surgery, change his name and not even a police licence is unbelievable.

People have contempt for the legal process, because in these kind of cases most people don't believe that it delivers justice.

He was sentenced to 6 years, out after three.

I wish, really wish, that the time you were sentenced for was the time you served. Simple, comprehensible.

Really Auntie? That way offenders would be released into the community with no supervision. That's a far scarier thought i think. The way our sentences work is that a portion of the sentence is served in jail and another portion in the community whilst being supervised and integrated. If they break their conditions of release they can be sent straight back to prison.

I understand why people dislike the system but i think it's better than the alternative.

I'm not saying i agree with the length of sentences but realise that judges are bound by certain regulations and i trust that they make the right decisions with the information they have.

It needn't mean that at all.

You can attach a period of supervision to the end of any length of custodial sentence. it just takes the political will to make it so.

And money. More money.

The most scary thing is not that he is out of prison, but apparently not on licence either, so not monitored by anyone.

It always seems to come as a massive surprise to the Daily Mail that prison sentences come to an end.

They are not suggesting that he has committed any crime since leaving prison, and indeed he seems to be trying to earn a living. What he did was utterly vile, but he should be left alone by the papers now.
