ComeOVeneer · 11/11/2006 10:15

Starshaker that is a bit of an urban myth re the grateful wallet owner and the advise to avoid a certain place. It has been reported on here several times if you do a search.

SherlockLGJ · 11/11/2006 10:18

Not that old chestnut........

starshaker · 11/11/2006 10:19

oh right. it was my wee sisters friend who said to her they both work quite close with the police but when i called my sis to ask if she knew anything she said that her friend had told her not to go near for a while

starshaker did you hear about the woman from Ayr( i would name her but obviously not on here), this happened to my friends aunt a few months ago in the summer, She works in Glasgow for a big company and had her car parked in her usual bit of a multistorie as she went to get into her car one day after work she was approached by a man in a suit saying he had his car in the ground floor and could he possibly get a lift down to pick it up, she said sure (thought he worked in the same building as her) he got in the passenger side and put his briefcase on the floor, suddenly she had a horrible feeling and asked him to go out and check her break light as she said it wasn't working, she grabbed the door shut and put the automatic lock on and sped down the multistori, he started running after the car but she was soon onto the street, she drove all the way home to ayr, got outside her house and noticed his breif case on the floor, she picked it up and went inside, her and her husband opened it to find a rope, masking tape and a viners kitchen knife, her husband called the police who now have taken up the case. Scarey or what

AitchTwoOh · 11/11/2006 11:48

surely that's another urban myth, or are you taking the mickey?

themoon66 · 11/11/2006 16:15

Someone is taking the piss. Both these stories... the grateful terrorist and the shopping mall/car park abductor have been on www.snopes.com. for years.

alexa1 · 11/11/2006 16:29

I have heard those stories elsewhere before.

expatinscotland · 11/11/2006 16:30

F*cking hell!

We almost went out there today, b/c the weather was so shite, but we figured it'd be even worst in the west.

Apperently a girl at the the big Milton Keynes shopiing centre was told the same this at easter. had been serving a guy in shop, he said 'as you were so nice, I will warn you not to come into work next Saturday' (easter Saturday)

Nothing happened, but this thread is the 3rd time I have heard of such a thing.

AitchTwoOh · 14/11/2006 01:19

about 50 people were told it in the run-up to sept 11. those terrorists are a very indiscreet bunch...
