During the Vietnam war, the CIA recruited Hmongs, an ethnic group originally from China to help thwart the communists. They faught alongside American soldiers, in a 'secret war' unknown by the Amercian public and denied by the government. Some subsequently settled in the States, others remaned in Wat Tham Krabok Refugee Camp, north of Bangkok, Thailand.
