Maybe I have lost the plot here but less than a year ago she was sniffing coccaine, ok she went to rehab but how often do we see complimentary articles on her behaviour and attitude ? she has been awarded model of the year sorry but I do not agree .Just what example is being set for children who aspire to be models ???
They will be giving Zidane footballer of the year next for headbutting in the world cup final .

whats shes won it you mean? done on her actual modelling abilities i would have thought and how much money she earns not how much cocaine she sniffs

It's an industry award though isn't it...she's probably a pretty accurate reflection of the ways of that industry and is, let's face it, a bloody good model who can shift more stuff than almost anyone else, start more trends and make more money for all involved....would have been strange to give it to anyone else

It wasn't The morally correct and never fallen superiority daily mail reading award though was it.

Well she is a fashion icon and she is prolific (14 ad campaigns) so the quote is entirely accurate. What's the problem?

id think id be more worried about kids thinking it looks healthy to have anarexia (sp) than cocaine snorting. snorting doesnt kill you does it? i know anarexia can have huge impact on your internal organs though.

anyway its a known fact that models are around drugs constantly, all part of the scene so its not surprising the majority of them probably slip into drug taking.

I don't disagree with the quote I just don't think that she should have won model of the year .

the problem is it would probably be hard to find a model as high ranking as Ms Moss who has;t dabbled .......she is indeed a fashion icon...but you have to wonder about the message it sends out to younger girls who idolise her and her ilk.....

anyhoo, last time i criticised kate moss i got lambasted.. so i shall potter away now;......!

I guess my point is that it's an award given by her peers so recognises what she gives back to the industry ie.shed loads of cash, kudos and genuine style. Not to give to her would be hypocritical as she's on so many covers and fronts so many ad campaigns - and many of her fellow models and casting agents use coke too.
It's not the role model of the year award....

Putting the nose corroding to one side, I dont see how she is a style icon either.
All she bloody wears is the same black skinny jeans or leggings. In every picture.

And to be quite honest, i dont think shes very attractive either.

Don't think she should of won it either.

I think from the waist up she's a pretty versatile model hence all the contracts. However I am NOT happy about those legs. That mobile phone ad with her walking about in hot pants - purleese! I'll shoot myself it she gets a contract with Pretty Polly

I know models are well paid, but frankly she is thirty something and she has got an award for having her photo taken. Big achievement. Modelling may seem glamourous, but it is probably incredibly boring in reality - a bit like being a monster extra in Doctor Who - you spend loads of time in make-up but don't have to actually say anything.

lulumama, id love to know the evidence between heart attack deaths due to cocaine taking and deaths due to anerexia. thats a serious question not a pisstake by the way

i don;t know the medical evidence..but you do hear of people who after years of sustained cocaine use do have heart attacks! there was some major hollywood and yes...anorexia can lead to heart failure too....i don;t know if one is worse than the other...but i don;t think either are particularly healthy..

bearing in mind cocaine is a stimulant...it can over-stimulate if taken too long..too often...i'm sure if i went trawling , i could find the evidence...but anecdotally...it is something i am aware of...

people do die after years of drug abuse... or die younger than they should.....or suffer other medical complications..so not a great leap to see that it can damage your major organs..

if i am totally wrong... i will stand corrected......! sorry i cannot be more specific.....

sorry - hollywood producer who died suddenly and fairly young (40s i think) after years of cocaine use ( and probably other drugs too....)

cheers lulu, i think generally what were saying is that models are affected by both drugs/anerexia really, i wouldnt want any daughter of mine (have 2 boys!) becoming one
