Marianne Williams cleared of killing her son

I seem to recall that her mum was on here several months ago?

Congratulations to Marianne and her family. When the dust has settled, I hope that today's result means that they can begin to rebuild their lives again.

edam · 27/10/2006 19:30

Poor woman. Glad she's finally been cleared but the last two and half years must have been a torment.

Thanks for your messages of support. I am so very happy to have Ian and Angela home, with their convictions quashed.
Although they face the trauma of a re-trial,all the family of both of them have no worries about that whatsoever. With the masses of unused material, and other important evidence, which has come to light since the trial and could not be used at their Appeal, but which CAN and WILL be used at any re-trial,we think they will be completely exonerated.
We also have a wonderful caring legal team, who truly believe in Ian & Ange's innocence-the CPS should be shaking in their shoes!

SamhainWitch · 27/10/2006 19:35

Hang on, I've found it!

They were cleared too

southeastastra · 27/10/2006 19:36

i didn't realise they had posted here!

SamhainWitch · 27/10/2006 19:36

OOps, sorry, wrong Mr Gay

SamhainWitch · 27/10/2006 19:38

Shucks, I was right the first time. Article is about someone else but Ian and Angela are mentioned in it.

How extraordinary that this woman was ever charged with murder.

I know someone whose son died at the age of 32, of an aneurism. He got a headache in the afternoon and by the evening was on life support. Up until then he was a perfectly healthy young man, and doctors said the aneurism had been there forever, he could have died of it at any time during his childhood or could have carried on living till 90 and died of something else - it was simply the luck of the draw. She has rather a black sense of humour, and at the funeral she said to a friend of mine "well I suppose I should be grateful he died now, not when he was a kid - they'd have thrown me into prison for it, wouldn't they. They can't accuse me of murdering him now, can they, seeing as how he'd left home."

There is something seriously wrong with this country when children can't die without parents - usually mothers - being accused of murdering them as part of an automatic range of options, rather than as a really unusual and overwhelming load of evidence.

Hello again.
I haven't posted for some while, but thought I would give you an update.
The result of Marianne's trial was wonderful. Our families -i.e families of Ian and Angela Gay- have supported the Williams' as best we could, attending the trial on some days. Joshua's case has so many similarities to Christian Blewitt's that it is of great importance to us. The same legal team, and experts for the defence, and also some of the prosecution's experts in Mariannne's case are being used against Ian and Ange(including ones that were shown to have been "erroneous."in Marianne's)
We are all so happy for Marianne and her family!
They are a really lovely family.
As far as Ian and Angela go- yes, they are still facing the trauma of a re-trial (probably in January) although there are still various legal proceedings going through at the moment.
The CPS (as ever) have one rule for themselves-cannot say more about that just now. More happening in the next couple of weeks.
After having their convictions quashed earlier in the year- ( they had both spent 15 months in prison) Angela and Ian still can't get on with their lives yet, but they are both fine and strong. Little Christian died almost 4 years ago now, but the wounds cannot heal yet. However. they have both been encouraged by the support of local people.
Hopefully, Justice will be done eventually for our family. In the meantime, I am so thankful that Marianne's family will not have to suffer as we have done.
