George Aligiah

George Aligiah (newsreader) went off sick last April with bowel cancer. I haven't heard anything else about him since - has anyone? I miss seeing him on the news - hope he's making a good recovery

I was thinking about him the other day. I wonder if we had read articles about bowel cancer? I wish him all the best but have heard no news of his health.

He's one of my favourite news readers, hopefully they caught the cancer in time

I hadn't heard he was ill. Just looked him up on Twitter but radio silence since last summer. Hope he's OK.

Gosh, missed the announcement last year. V sad. And how extraordinary that he has managed to keep the media away so effectively too.

What made you suddenly post Beemail?

Just kept thinking he would return and he hasn't and wondered if there had been anything in the media about him and I'd missed it. He went very suddenly with brief announcement and I think it was announcement about Nick Robinson (announcement about his lung cancer last week) that made me think - gosh and George still not back.
Hope both their treatment goes well and of course they do deserve privacy.

Bowel cancer treatment often includes surgery, then a course of chemotherapy. This can take months. Our 80 odd year old parish priest underwent treatment and it went on for best part of a year. He was given the all clear eventually, but it's a long haul.

I really like George Aligiah and hope he makes a full recovery soon.

This is weird - I was talking to dh about this yesterday and wondering how he is. Hope he's making progress, I like him too.
