Haven't seen Michael J Fox in the media for a long time so I was shocked to see clips from the political advert he has made in the US. His Parkinsons is now very marked and his tremors are terrible, poor man.

I was even more shocked and disgusted to hear about Rush Limbaugh's (talk show host) comments.

Here , click on video link for advert and comments.

God I love Michael J Fox, I was so sad when I heard he had Parkinsons. Good on him for standing up and doing this.

That radio host is sick an absolute disgrace.

Rush Limburg has obviously never spent time with a Parkinson's patient . What an utter arsehole. Easy to kiss of research if you can't be fucking bothered to see how devistating the condition can be. Wanker!

Radley · 25/10/2006 12:41

That man ought to be ashamed of himself 'How dare he' comment that MJF is faking it, he obviously knows nothing about the disease.

I have been a fan of MJF as long as I can remember and I'm sorry to see him like this.

expatinscotland · 25/10/2006 12:42

He was quite young when he was diagnosed. Only 30.

He's had a lot of struggle w/his disease b/c his case seems to be quite aggressive and progressive.

Blandmum · 25/10/2006 12:43

It is the sad thing, the earlier you get it , the more agreesive it can be

In my past I used to work on Parkinson's disease. Not 'sexy' 'cos it usualy affects the old
So fucking at the 'acting comments.

geekgrrl · 25/10/2006 12:44

how sad

I like MJF, too - what a nasty piece of sh*t RL is. At least they're showing their true colours with clunkers like that.

HauntedsandCastle · 25/10/2006 12:46

That radio presenter is sick! I have watched my aunts friend deteriate (sp) thru this disease. He shakes, he can't feed him self well (when he 'feels' like eating), he is incontanent and you can't understand him....to say that MJF exagerated it is utterly disrespectful!

IGNORANT BASTARD

SamhainWitch · 25/10/2006 12:52

I grew up around sufferers of Parkinsons, my mum was a founder member of the local PD Society many years ago.

One guy in particular sticks in my memory because he was also only in his 30s when he was struck. He was only in his early 40s when he lost his fight

Many many years ago I met MJF at a charity softball game in my hometown and he was a lovely charming man. This would have been in the late 80s so long before he was diagnosed and to see him now and his condition, it makes me so sad for him. Then I think that he is one of the more stable Hollywood folk. He's been married to his wife for what must be at least 15 years who he often credits with making life bearable.

As for RL's comments - what a twunt. I cannot believe anyone could be that ignorant.

suedonim · 25/10/2006 14:11

I was shocked at MJF's condition when I saw the ad this morning. He's a brave man to make such an appearance, I take my hat off to him. As to that talk show host - he's not worth wasting breath on.

cooperflykiller · 26/10/2006 15:08

Yes, but it is typical Rush Limbaugh. He is a self described conservative, but having listened (in shock and horror) to some of his programming IMO he is an idiotic, dribbling, prescription drug addicted, hypocrite. But thousands of Americans worship him! Scary!! This is him on abortion/gays.

"Imagine we identify the gene ? assuming that there is one, this is hypothetical ? that will tell us prior to birth that a baby is going to be gay.... How many parents, if they knew before the kid was gonna be born, [that he] was gonna be gay, they would take the pregnancy to term? Well, you don't know but let's say half of them said, "Oh, no, I don't wanna do that to a kid." [Then the] gay community finds out about this. The gay community would do the fastest 180 and become pro-life faster than anybody you've ever seen. They'd be so against abortion if it was discovered that you could abort what you knew were gonna be gay babies. "

Nice guy, isn't he?
