Should the government intervene or should it be left to the Indonesian government to deal with her however they see fit?

I've got mixed feelings, I am not in favour of the death penalty but on the other hand she knew the risks of what she was doing.

I'm not in favour of the death penalty, but I think, in this case, she knew the risks and must accept the consequences. We shouldn't interfere with other countries judicial systems.

That's pretty much how I feel as well, though I read of suggestions that she has mental heath issues and I think that makes me wonder about it. I don't know if the MH issues were before or after her arrest though, I think many people would have MH issues in her situation.

The way these things normally play out is that the embassy/consul appeals for clemency and the host country holds firm to their punishment rules until right at the last minute when they commute the sentence. I'm not sure Indonesia wants to be seen as barbaric

Whenever I read about cases like this, I tend to think of the people whose lives she could have potentially destroyed by smuggling in the drugs. I do find the death penalty abhorrent but you have to be more than stupid to smuggle drugs into these countries without knowing the outcome if the drugs are found.

I agree with Cogito, there will be a last minute appeal for clemency to which the country finally agrees.

The Indonesians went ahead and executed five other foreigners last week though and are said to be about to execute two Australians so I wouldn't be surprised if there was no last minute clemency.
