Pretend - database? No. We have the Sex Offenders Register since 1995, but no national database for Sch1 Offenders and other sex offenders that may be so easily accessed. The police national comuter SHOULD give accuarate info. but this too is blighted with probs. The criminal records check system is hopeless for any kind of immediate reassurances on these things.

risingsun - the search. I know. But it seems SO strange to do a fingertip search of a church. And she will have had a life outside of it, that it seems, IMHO, to not warrant an immediate detailed search..but big questions will be asked, not doubt, of the decisions made, esp. in view of lessons learned from Huntley.

Like you said earlier it may well turn out to be the boyfriend, who knows.
Let's just hope they solve this quickly for people like Aimsmum who live so near.

Off to bed now Pann,night.

Still beggars my belief that the murderer (whoever it may be and in a way, I can see that Aimsmum would want it to be the sex offender as otherwise she has a sex offender and a murderer - 2 dangerous criminals - on her doorstep) had time to raise the floorboards in the church and bury the body. I hate to say it but it would suggest the murder took place in the church (well, to me, it would suggest that) and that it was done by someone who perhaps had more access to the church than even the general public...

So very sad, read it in the papers early this week that the young woman had gone missing and then about the odd job man being wanted for more questioning, last person to see her! Just had a horrible gut feeling it would end like this. Poor family back in Poland to have to go through this

This is such a sad case Aimsmum - her parents must have thought she was in a safe place, living in a church house. Horrible that this man was released early from his previous sentence.

SSSandy · 02/10/2006 08:33

Must have been horrific and very violent sadly if they could not identify the girl or even say whether it was a male or female body. It's sickening

if they've got him, (and the implication seems to be that they have) why all the fuss at the school?

oh, right.

expatinscotland · 02/10/2006 12:45

F*cking hell!

HOW was she not found, if she were murdered in such a way!?

And yes, for Strathclyde Police to say it was one of the worst they've seen is definitely saying something, considering the case a couple of years ago in which three men were butchered to death in a Glasgow flat.

can someone tell me her name? Haven't read anything about this (and not sure I want to) since we're overseas but I'd like to know her name.

MrsMuddle · 02/10/2006 19:26

Her name was Angelika Kluk.

marthamoo · 02/10/2006 19:31

This is so awful - you must feel very shaken, Aimsmum.

SSSandy · 02/10/2006 19:32

Thanks Mrs M

We employ five young Eastern European women (three from Poland and two from Slovakia) at our nurseries and Mr Bubble and I were really affected by this horrible report.

They are all fantastic girls. Enthuastic, reliable, very well-qualified (three have degrees from their native countries) and with a better command of English than a lot of British people we've interviewed.

I am, however, often struck by their vulnerability. Some have come from small towns and I often worry about them travelling alone on London buses. More so as the early mornings and nights get darker. I am pleased that we are a small business as, as a result, our staff have formed strong friendships and regularly text each other to check that everyone is OK.

I am so sad that Angelika came to the UK, like our girls, full of hope and that her life ended so horribly.

bubble99 · 02/10/2006 19:45

Enthusiastic

Here's me complaining about a poor command of language!
