"John Lydon says he attended late night drinking sessions in the Commons
Was accompanied on his trips to the Palace of Westminster by Linda Ashby
Claims that MPs would mingle and go off with escorts at the end of the night"

Can't say I'm surprised anymore

not remotely surprised. Not even sure why it's news. If Johnny Rotten was trying to shock he's failed.

minkymuskyslyoldstoaty · 06/10/2014 10:38

the Daily Mail innit. It's just an extract from his new autobiography. It happened 35 years ago, so i doubt he's 'using' it for publicity now!

Claig .... talking about history, next you will say that Farage when a City oil trader, very fond of the odd pint (7 or 9?) never went out in the evenings with brokers, or with workmates, to all those lap dancing places, lashed or otherwise, and what can go on afterwards?

I never got to meet one male wheeler dealer 'saint' in the City never led astray by the evils of alcohol, so if you want to stoop to new political lows to prove your man is 'different', I'd challenge any newspaper to dig into City Farage's past, and during foreign business trips, and see how 'rotten' he got.

claig · 08/10/2014 16:42

Irrelevant what he did, and I very much doubt he did anything of disrepute based on the moral rectitude he now displays, because he was not a representive of the people, making laws for the people while cavorting with escorts and yoof off the street.

'next you will say that Farage when a City oil trader, very fond of the odd pint (7 or 9?)'

That shows remarkable restraint compared to the wild abandon of William Hague and the drunken antics of the Bullingdon Club

'Hague: I drank 14 pints of beer a day'

Johnny Rotten is on Channel 4 News tonight in an interview with Jon Snow. I think he will touch on the political scene etc. There was a clip where Eton was mentioned.

'I never got to meet one male wheeler dealer 'saint' in the City never led astray by the evils of alcohol'

I take it, therefore, that you did not meet Nigel Farage.

God, that man is an arse. He put me off my cornflakes this morning.

claig · 09/10/2014 09:43

Was that on Radio 4's today programme?
They didn't show Rotten on Channel 4 News yesterday. Not sure why.

He was whittering on about something or other, trying to be all Punk but sounding like a grumpy teen trying to be all smart and controversial.

claig · 09/10/2014 12:31

Yes, I only half listened, but John Humphreys was asking stupid questions about how Rotten hadn't succeeded in changing society etc

I don't agree with much of what Rotten says but I think he is entertaining n that he is like a medieval jester who pricks pomposity and asks questions and stirs things up. Even if he is wrong on lots of things and does play a role of jester, he is still an interesting voice with an artist's and outsider's perspective.

I find him annoying. Like a kid who knows absolutely everything with a huge degree of certainty.
