Think it might be a good idea...get rid of Tony and his cronies but not let the Torys in!

I voted Lib Dem in the 2001 election and the bloke I voted for actually got in with a majority of about 2000 after an eternity of Labour rule. Quite proud of that.

I would never vote for Ming the Merciless though. He and his PR team are a horrible bunch of backstabbing twits who are just as bad as the manipulative morons we have in now. I agree with the Lib Dem policies but I would never vote for Campbell on principal. I also don't like the way that Charles Kennedy's 'snub' of Campbell's handshake was relayed to the press either. There was absolutely no need for it to have been released to the press so why do it, other than to attempt to cast a cloud over Kennedy's speech?!

Ming - you're no Kennedy! Just watch his performance on Question Time last night and watch yours on Newsnight from Wednesday - no contest!

RanToTheHills · 22/09/2006 14:14

tempted not to vote at all, sth I never thought I'd say. But i live in the safest tory seat possible (DC's)so seems somewhat pointless. Also what the hell is the difference between them all now? I trust labour slightly more on its commitment to public sector funding, but that's it.

Tommy · 22/09/2006 14:15

in our constituency, it's either Labour or Conservative - Lib Dems have never made any mark at all. A Lib Dem vote is a wasted vote here (as I always say to DH )

FluffyCharlotteCorday · 22/09/2006 14:18

Because Ming Campbell is moving it back towards the right.

If my local MP weren't one of the Usual Suspects, I would have voted LibDem last time, but now that Campbell's in charge, I wouldn't vote for that lot.

I liked it when Kennedy was in charge. A politician who spends most of his time drunk can't do much harm, imo.

plummymummy · 23/09/2006 20:00

they will all misuse and abuse our money and spend it on things we might not morally support. Even if you vote for someone who's manifesto you fully support, chances are they'll change it when they get into power. So whether you vote Tory, Labour (what's the difference between the two)or Lib Dem I reckon you're kidding yourself if you think they will transform British Politics.

nikkie · 23/09/2006 20:25

I used to really like our MP (labour) and had been to him a few times (working fucking tax credits ) but he is now one of TB's Lackeys and an outsider for leader so will *not be voting for him again.Would like to vote Green but we never have a candidate so prob will be Lib next time just for a change

Fauve · 23/09/2006 20:46

Oh, Uwila! That's exactly how I feel about Gordon Brown. I can't believe that anyone, anyone, anyone could possibly want him to be PM.

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 23/09/2006 20:46

Who you can safely vote for depends entirely on where you live. This is a safe Tory seat. Until we get a sensible form of PR voting LibDem (or anything else) here is just a waste of time.

Used to want to be an MP , went off the idea 'cos I didn't want to live in London!

Joolstoo · 24/09/2006 20:37

just watching recorded Sunday AM with Andrew Marr interviewing Tone

never thought I'd say this but the one thing TB has over Gordy is charisma.

Please don't vote Gordon

plummymummy · 24/09/2006 21:42

Would greens live in London or commute from somewhere more environmentally friendly

Fauve · 24/09/2006 23:30

Oh, can't we talk some more about how foul Gordon is? Trident, nuclear power, obsession with science, obsession with state control of families. And the rest. All that from a man who's been unable to get the job he really covets, and who now, if he does get it, will guarantee a Labour defeat in the next general election.

Uwila · 25/09/2006 08:32

Oh, I so agree with you Jools. Gordon does doen't have the charisma. And charisma is so important as a aleader. Reagan had it. Clinto had it. And Blair has it. But Gordon can never live up to it. I think the tories know what they are doing with young likable "keep it real" Cameron. AndI think that Labour should do the same. (not that I really want Labour to win, but if I did, I think they need to compete with the Cameron image, not the Ming image)

O Fauve, yes, let' talk about Gordon's meddling in family affairs. Nanny state I want not!

Beetroot · 25/09/2006 08:41

I guess at least we will know if Gordon is in before the next election. Maybe there will be somebody fresh and exciting and honest

Thought you'd be used to it coming from the U.S

Boowila · 17/10/2006 14:58

Used to what? Was that directed at me?

plummymummy · 19/10/2006 21:50

yes - as in used to having a nanny state. Not that, it means you condone it of course.

plummymummy · 19/10/2006 21:51

Oops shouldn't be a comma there.

tiredemma · 19/10/2006 21:52

Id rather lose my vote than vote lib dem.

I have yet to see any policy from them that I could ever take seriously.

Schokofruhstucksflockenhasseri · 19/10/2006 22:41

nothing changes really on which party gets in.

Consider all the really big things that have happened in Britain since the war. They would all have happened anyway, whichever party was in power.

We would have got the welfare state, because the lords and masters in teh establishment decided it was the moment for it. We would have got the 50s/60s boom. We would have got the breakdown on Keynsian policies in the 70s. And like it or not, we would have abandoned heavy industry and coal in the 80s, because Britain is here to make money, not crap around with a social framework.

So dont bother to vote - emigrate I say and the last person out turn the lights off.

yellowrose · 19/10/2006 23:12

They are all a bunch of arses !
I voted for the Green Party in my local elections and will do again.

Boowila · 20/10/2006 14:58

Why would I be used to a nanny state? Do you think the US has nanny state characteristics compared to the UK?
