Frustrated at the news...

It seems that every piddling little thing is blown up out of all proportion just to fill news space and it's extremely annoying. The daddy long legs story in the Sun and on BBC Breakfast news this morning is just one example from thousands - it's September, leaves turn brown and fall from the trees and daddy long legs come out to play, that's just what happens in Autumn. Just like when we see a bee in April it's a total anomily and the world must be about to explode just because of this one tiny little bee! FFS! The media blow these stories up out of all proportion because they need to fill their papers/programmes with something and as a result the rest of us are left believing that something really bad is about to happen.

And with regards to other stories in the news, I'm fed up of a news story breaking and everyone being interviewed for their thoughts and opinions within seconds. I know rolling news programmes have a desperate need to fill time but do we really need to know what the cousin of someone's friend's sister thought about something???

The trouble is that the news machine has to be seen to be moving the story on. So it goes - original story, reaction to story, reaction to reaction etc etc. I agree that this often seems to be largely driven by the amount of minutes/column inches that have to be filled rather than by actually shedding extra light on something. It's boring and I think we're stuck with it.

I really, really hate the video clips - if the newsreader is talking about a hospital lo and behold we are shown a hospital. What do they think? That old Joe Public is so thick that he needs pictures to decipher the terribly complex news story? Grrrrrr.

Sorry, off subject rather. Totally agree Ginmummy.
