Midwife shortage puts lives at risk

Not really new news as such but a bit scary. That's one of reasons I'd quite like home birth - at least you're guaranteed one-to-one care.

when i had` ds two summers ago a whole maternity ward was shut due to staff shortages and summer holidays. It was like a factory farm in that hospital, and frightening. You can forget about anyone helping you breastfeeding, you just want to get out of there with your baby safe.
