Just this really
www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/07/29/the-sun-newspaper-devil-mark_n_5629308.html?ncid=webmail1

The owners, editors and, in particular, the writer of this piece are morally reprehensible.

The mother is a bit of a dick as well

jellycake · 29/07/2014 14:27

Surely, they should be more concerned about how unexplained marks came to be on the child and, as pointed out by some of the tweets on the article, seem to be a hairdryer burn!

This is front page news for a UK national newspaper? I use the term newspaper loosely, they still think breasts are news there

Today's news includes:

The middle east crisis heating up even further.
Tougher sanctions being proposed against Russia.
A man killing a 6 week old baby.
China investigating it's ex security chief.

And the Sun thought 'bugger all that, let's run with the kid who's been burned with a hairdryer'

Riiiiiight! Hmm

dawndonnaagain · 29/07/2014 19:04

It really is time somebody shut them down.

BabeRuthless · 29/07/2014 20:49

It's absolutely appalling. I don't know what on earth made them think that was a suitable or humorous front page. They should be ashamed of themselves. I also can't believe they're justifying it by saying the mother posted it over Facebook. Since when was Facebook a hunting ground for front page stories?

BarleyBub · 29/07/2014 22:13

I don't like or read the Sun but I don't see any reason why they should be shut down. You can't arbitrarily decide what is and isn't worthy of being on the the front page of a newspaper. It's up to them to decide what their readers will buy.

dawndonnaagain · 29/07/2014 22:25

They named the child Barley can you even begin to imagine the level of bullying that will ensue?
The paper is anachronistic and should have folded many, many years ago.

SublimeCorpse · 29/07/2014 22:29

Good grief.

The mother is as bad, allowing her child to be photographed and playing along with it.

Ridiculous.

HedgehogHairbrush · 29/07/2014 22:41

I was absolutely appalled to see this on a rack in the newsagents as I queued this morning. i said as much to the assistant - how can it possibly be ok to photograph and name a child and right such nonsense. That child will be known and recognised and taunted about this and they had zero choice in the matter. I have a 4 year old and cannot imagine sidelining their right to privacy and dignity in the is way in the pursuit of a few mins fame for myself. It is such a ridiculous claim too - are we actually in the 21st century?! It is like something from the middle ages.

TurboWithAKick · 29/07/2014 22:44

It sells, makes them money.... Why would they 'close down'?

HedgehogHairbrush · 29/07/2014 22:58

They've not only named him but given his home town and listed where he goes to school - do they have anyone who thought about this for one single second?!

Nancy66 · 30/07/2014 13:07

of course it's not going to be closed down, it's the most popular newspaper in the country.

Bluebelljumpsoverthemoon · 30/07/2014 18:08

Poor child, on the other hand the publicity may bring
this mother to the attention of social workers. They're's something very wrong with a parent who publicly exposes their child like that. They also need to take a second look at that burn. It's unlikely to have magically appeared.

edamsavestheday · 01/08/2014 20:28

WTF were they thinking?! Horrific. And I'm a hack (magazines, not newspapers, and far more boring/less high profile, before anyone tries to tar me with this brush). Absolutely appalling.
