There was a little bit in one of the sunday papers that she's filed charges of abuse with the police against one of her staff. How horrible for the little one.

I heard that. Apparently she came home to hear the baby crying and the staff member not trying to calm her and also she says there were red marks on her legs.

I woundn't leave my baby with no stranger. Hope the baby is ok.

Something about this story is odd. If Geri had been paranoid to leave her child with anyone else since the birth, would think that she vetted the person she left the child with thorougly. Where did she get the nanny? If through an agency, they would have done police checks, checked references, done personal interviews, etc.

The story also said that Geri was out for 3 hours and came back to find the baby crying/bruised. I'm no expert, but could a nanny (or any childcare professional) really be pushed to such desperate behaviour in such a short period? Even if it was an absolutely difficult baby, 3 hours isn't long to be pushed to the brink of misconduct for a professional.

It must be deeply upsetting for those involved, but I keep thinking that there must be more to the story - and I'm not suggesting anything sinister. It just doesn't quite add up - IMO.

I think there must be some sunday paper exaggeration here; doesn't add up for me either earlybird.

cupcakes · 04/09/2006 20:07

I find it a bit odd. Either the paper has exaggerated it or Geri has over reacted to a non existent situation.

chocybickie · 04/09/2006 20:08

i heard that geri found bruises on her baby's legs, not marks.
i tend to find that bruises take a while to appear.

shazronnie · 04/09/2006 20:14

and this might be horrible and judgmental esp if something bad did happen ... but Geri isn't one to shy away from a bit of publicity is she?

aitch71 · 04/09/2006 20:23

sometimes my DH is giving the baby a cuddle and he leaves red marks on her legs (they are gone in minutes) but bruises surely would take longer than three hours to appear? could geri halliwell really be so craven as to seek publicity using her child's nanny? don't answer that...

Lots of new mums struggle to adjust to their world being turned upside down by a baby's needs. If Geri has barely let the child out of her sight for over 3 months, I wonder/hope she's managing the transition that many Mums find challenging.

misdee · 04/09/2006 20:37

some bruises do appear pretty much instantly if you have children who bruise easily (as mine do). i also bruise easily. Geri is quite fair skinned isnt she? i am as well, and the slightest knock will bruise me if its my legs. not so much on my arms.

£hours is more than long enough to get riled with a child if your having a bad day.

some of these nannys though think its easy money just looking after a child and when the parent goes out doesnt give a crap about the child they just see it as a job to get money no love comes in to it
