LOL

Iklboo · 29/08/2006 16:37

It was the "level of alcoholism" bit that got me...I mean - can you be a little bit alcoholic?

peanutbutter · 29/08/2006 16:37

i feel very sad for him and his family and wonder if he'll make it back onto the front bench or whether, even, he would want to? i hope he beats the drink whichever.

Freckle · 29/08/2006 16:39

Or even that alcoholism is the worst "condition" that some of them boast??

I do feel sorry for him that this is all be played out in front of a critical public. I hope he and his family can deal with this and move on.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/08/2006 16:45

Yep, feel very sorry for him and his family too. Must be really tough on his wife.

KathyMCMLXXII · 29/08/2006 16:45

Iklboo, Alcoholics Anonymous have a series of descriptions of different types of alcoholic, one of which they call the 'regular but restrained' alcoholic - someone who drinks far more than is good for them but manages to keep it under some kind of control at a level that they have deemed appropriate. Eg. they may get drunk every night but always manage to get to work the next day.
Maybe CK was thought to be like that but it turned out he was actually not doing his job and the others in his party were covering up for him?

Joolstoo · 29/08/2006 16:46

he probably would have done a better job drunk than Tone has done sober .......

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/08/2006 16:55

How do you know that Tone is sober......?

Joolstoo · 29/08/2006 17:02

yeah! there is that ......
some of his decisions would lead me to believe he's been on the loopy juice!

KathyMCMLXXII · 29/08/2006 17:03

Too much communion wine in his case.

Dorisdaisy · 29/08/2006 17:14

Interesting! I wonder how many alcoholic mps have there been and how many there are now? It seems the media would have us believe that only recent one is CK himself? I would not advocate alcoholism but working alonside some of his 'so called colleges' must have 'drove him to drink' The way it was played into the public domain was appalling (imo)
