Just read the below on the blog site someone posted earlier. I wasn't aware that an ambulance never arrived, is this true?

2. He doesn’t want to tell anybody what he said to Netcare. The reason Netcare never sent an ambulance is because Oscar probably gave them some BS story about the nature of Reeva’s injuries. I’m sure he realized that if there wasn’t record of him calling for medical help it would look really bad OR Johan Stander may have told him to call. I don’t know a single ambulance company that after hearing somebody was shot 3 times, including one in the head, would not send an ambulance and suggest that you drive the injured person yourself. That’s ludicrous.

LouiseBrooks · 13/04/2014 19:47

Bonnie - dunno and does "attempted to intervene in previous hearings" mean that she is just a random nutter because I'm sure high profile cases attract them, or is she really related to the surgeon and/ or a friend of OP's mother?

AmIthatSpringy · 13/04/2014 19:48

louise you don't even need to qualify that, we should all be able to debate this. No-one has said that what happened wasn't horrific and that poor, poor Reeva must have been terrified. I will say again though, part of the reason I hope it was as OP says is that I couldn't bear to think of that poor girl being pursued by the man she loved and knowing that he, if even for an instant, wanted to kill her. It's fucking awful.

Acknowledging that doesn't mean we can't be objective when looking at this. Andrew Harding, the BBC correspondent said it wasn't a who dunnit, but a "whydunnit".

And we are all mature enough to debate that, challenge viewpoints, think about things from different angles, etc.

So, in a long winded way I'm saying please continue with your comments, and you really don't need to be apologetic for having an open mind [smile}

ukgirl never used this term, but always wanted to ODFOD

OneStepCloser · 13/04/2014 19:48

Blimey, you would think Netcare would a recorded record of all calls wouldnt you, they must log calls and responses, surely?

Ooops, i did read that about him being told to take Reeva himself, I thought that sounded really strange.

Ukgal36 · 13/04/2014 19:49

Another thing that I find puzzling from what I have heard from OP this week was the time he said he was being shot at or a gun was pointed at him on a highway. I remembered the very small details of which direction he turned and etc and that he pulled off the road to a shopping centre and called someone to come and get him. BUT he doesn't remember who he called and how his car got back to his house. Very very strange indeed! Such a traumatic event would stay with you and burnt into your memory.

Ukgal36 · 13/04/2014 19:53

I am sorry I have no idea what ODFOD stands for! I am just expressing my views it nothing personal!

LouiseBrooks · 13/04/2014 19:55

Howaboutno

The phone records show he rang

  1. Stander
  2. Netcare
  3. Security

All within the space of 2 or 3 minutes. The ambulance did arrive because the paramedics confirmed she was dead. I don't know how long it took them but they got there before the regular police.

I thought Stander told him to take her to the hospital himself because the ambulances are notoriously slow?

One of the things that really pisses me off is the absolute rubbish out there on the internet about this case.

LouiseBrooks · 13/04/2014 19:56

Pettybetty I have read several accounts and I am still confused as to which side of the bed he was sleeping on!

AmIthatSpringy · 13/04/2014 19:57

Louise and Bonnie I believe she also appeared at the bail hearings and asked that OP have psych - something (I don't remember which) assessment.

She had said that when he fractured his skull and smashed his face in in the boat accident, he had sustained brain injuries and she wanted that assessed.

I think

LouiseBrooks · 13/04/2014 20:00

Springy thanks. Interesting but I'm sure if there was any issue re head injuries (mitigation) the defence would have used it.

AmIthatSpringy · 13/04/2014 20:00

Howaboutno is that not just some person's blog though. With their thoughts. They said "...probably gave then some BS story" They can't know what the netcare records say. If they had shown some BS story, I would have expected that to have been evidence on record

OneStepCloser · 13/04/2014 20:02

I`m sure Netcare have records, I would think that would be standard.

HowAboutNo · 13/04/2014 20:07

Thanks louise, springy, onestep - I did think that was strange as it's the first time I'd read an ambulance didn't turn up. I did notice the blog has a lot of opinion, so took it with a pinch of salt, but that part made me wonder.

OneStepCloser · 13/04/2014 20:10

HowAbout I`m reading things all the time, and even on here Grin and its messing with my brain. I end up thinking, i just dont know what to think!

AmIthatSpringy · 13/04/2014 20:12

Yes, and everything about this does make us wonder.

Maybe the Necare call will be part of the defence led evidence?

I think I have said before, I am as intrigued by what has not been covered and whatt witnesses have not been called. That speaks volumes to me

HowAboutNo · 13/04/2014 20:12

Last time I quote this blog, but is this true about the blood spurts?

"3. There is an arterial spurt pattern seen randomly between the bathroom and the top of the stairway landing that also hit some of the furniture down below That is the EXACT location that Oscar’s memory disappears and then magically reappears as soon as it hits the middle landing. He was very specific about that detail. WHY? What happened in that section of the home that he doesn’t want us to know? If there is spurt, her heart was beating there. I feel very confident that he was intentionally holding off medical help and waiting for her to die. Baba testified that when he arrived at Oscar’s front door along with the Standers, Oscar was standing at the top of the stairs with Reeva in his arms. He didn’t start walking down the stairs until he saw them. Oscar was not expecting the security guards or Dr. Stipp… he was only expecting the Standers. I think he had a big “oh shit” moment when he saw Baba and company. At that point he had to kick it in to gear and get Reeva down the stairs and pretend that he was helping her."

I'm also wondering why they didn't use towels to try and stop the bleeding instead of plastic bags? But I guess if it were significant, the prosecution would've made a big deal out of it

Ukgal36 · 13/04/2014 20:14

Instead of SA arming themselves to the hill and feeling unsafe in their home, it would be better to do something about the poverty and deprivation in the country that is leading to so much crime. Let this not be the legacy of the great man Nelson Mandala.

JillJ72 · 13/04/2014 20:15

Ref not remembering who he rang after pulling off the road. Maybe he rang many, maybe he didn't, maybe he doesn't want to drag others into this trial.

Springy I think this too, I cant believe the questions that have not been asked.

OneStepCloser · 13/04/2014 20:17

Can someone explain the plastic bags to me please (for someone who has followed this trial closely I seem to be missing lots of things!)

AnyaKnowIt · 13/04/2014 20:17

I remember being told to use plastic bags to stop bleeding on a first aid course many moons ago.

LouiseBrooks · 13/04/2014 20:18

But Howaboutno he wouldn't know who would arrive first would he, since he rang them all within a couple of minutes? Why not wait until he knew she was dead before ringing them? Why open the door so they could come straight in and catch him doing whatever?

Also, to be honest I'm pretty sure he knew that with that kind of headwound she wasn't going to recover and give testimony anyway.

There is arterial spurting but the prosecution expert said it is normal and consistent with his story.

HowAboutNo · 13/04/2014 20:19

I wonder when Nel will finish his X-examination... Perhaps there are bigger points to be made, but he really wants to drive home the issue of him shooting through the door?

I'm also wondering if we'll all be sat here in a week thinking something completely different because the defence pulls some reasonable evidence out of the bag!

LouiseBrooks · 13/04/2014 20:20

That is interesting about the plastic bags but I don't understand how it works? I haven't done a first aid course since I was about 12.

JillJ72 · 13/04/2014 20:21

HowAbout an alternative take (because who knows) - could he have paused to get them down the stairs, the "Right, here goes"? Did he not trust security (to keep schtum to the media)?
