GladIts Does he get as long as he wants to question the witness?

I'm assuming as long as he's not seen to spend too much time (needlessly) on a particular line of questioning, and that each question is deemed relevant, then he keeps going until he's finished. Anyone else know the answer to this? I can't see him being done for at least another couple of days.

Not sure if there is a time limit for cross examination but Nel has cross examined a suspect for 8 days in the past.

HowAboutNo · 10/04/2014 17:14

I think Nel has as long as he needs to question

member · 10/04/2014 17:17

Somebody asked about watching today's proceedings courtchatter.tv/pistoriusday19.htm

ExcuseTypos · 10/04/2014 17:18

Today was mostly about OP getting out of the bed and moving the fans. So I expect Nel will want few more days yet questioning OP.

StampyIsMyBoyfriend · 10/04/2014 17:19

To be fair, they'd both had busy days, in meetings etc. With the heat/humidity, I'd probably be tired too.

SirChenjin · 10/04/2014 17:23

Even then Stampy...don't you remember the heady, early days of a relationship when sleep was the very last thing on your mind? I'm not sure I believe that 2 young adults were both asleep by 10. Not just going to bed at 10, but actually asleep..

AnyaKnowIt · 10/04/2014 17:26

But they didn't go to sleep. Op said that he was texting his cousin and then they.were both looking at picture of cars on her phone.

StampyIsMyBoyfriend · 10/04/2014 17:27

Assuming OP's sporting career is over, there would be a place for him in Politics.

StackALee · 10/04/2014 17:29

I WOULD THINK THAT THE EXTENSION CORD/PLUG WOULD BE INTRODUCED AS EVIDENCE AT SOME POINT?

StackALee · 10/04/2014 17:29

oh crap - really am not shouting honest!

ZuluinJozi · 10/04/2014 17:30

@AnyaKnowIt he stuck to his story about time they had supper, but also conceded that if she got up to eat, he would have heard her get up

JillJ72 · 10/04/2014 17:30

We all put it to you that you would be Wink

No - OP has testified that they fell asleep between 9 and 10 and he woke around 3am.

If Reeva got up to make herself food (which would tie in with the post mortem showing she ate around 1) then why didn't OP wake then?

JillJ72 · 10/04/2014 17:31

Shouting, that is Stack

From today's testimony, I just feels like OP is the unluckiest man in the world

  • "the gun went off in my hand, I know that the gun can't go off on it's own, but I didn't pull the trigger" - Hmm
  • "I'm getting the fan in and closing the door and the fan is blowing in my face, so I can't hear if she got up" - interesting
  • "I didn't shoot the gun out of my car, the other two are lying" - why would they lie? What do they stand to gain?
  • "if Reeva had responded, I wouldn't have shot"

= nothing is my fault, ever, at all

AnyaKnowIt · 10/04/2014 17:32

Must have missed that bit, zulu

JillJ72 · 10/04/2014 17:32

OP fell asleep, I don't think he said that Reeva did. He is implying he fell asleep whilst she was still awake - he asked her to being in the fan and close the door if he fell asleep first.

That's what he says.

OP posts:
AnyaKnowIt · 10/04/2014 17:34

So when was he texting his cousin?

Pennies · 10/04/2014 17:37

"I'm getting the fan in and closing the door and the fan is blowing in my face, so I can't hear if she got up" - interesting

This, to me, is plausible. Also there was another fan on as well - and together the two of them would have made enough noise to drown out the sound of someone slipping out of bed, walking along a carpeted floor and into a bathroom, IMO.

JillJ72 · 10/04/2014 17:37

Before falling asleep. They went up ca 8pm. IIRC

OP posts:
HowAboutNo · 10/04/2014 17:38

For me, little details like that are too convenient

Pennies · 10/04/2014 17:39

8pm does seem very early to go to bed without anything else on the cards. I don't think DH and I have ever gone to bed that early without something more interesting being planned Wink.

AnyaKnowIt · 10/04/2014 17:41

Oh right thanks.

JillJ72 · 10/04/2014 17:42

It could be their busy day, and the heat, meant they were ready to relax in bed rather than in the living room or outside. Maybe they did ykw, don't really want to know! I quite often go up early, but then I work hard and after dinner am ready to read a book or iPad in bed rather than on the sofa.
