William and Harry are helping by laying sandbags in Datchet.

Very well done and to Prince Charles for visiting the Somerset Levels earlier on.

Obviously they stood have stayed at home and not deprived the sourpusses of the chance to moan about them being oblivious to the floods and suffering.

NeoFaust · 14/02/2014 16:25

Damn right well done. Politicians turn up and yap, Royals get their hands dirty. I also noticed that when Prince Charles was visiting Somerset he had a pen and paper in his hands and seemed to be taking notes. Maybe just to give the impression, or maybe he actually cares and wants to remember.

Tradition gives the Royals privilege, but also, it appears, a real sense of duty.

Viviennemary · 14/02/2014 16:27

Oh wow. Can't say I'm too impressed.

JanineStHubbins · 14/02/2014 16:32

No chip on my shoulder, I'm not a British citizen/subject.

Prince Charles taking notes would alarm me, as he's a dangerously interfering heir to the throne. Bodes ill for his accession, if it ever happens.

Royals get their hands dirty - riiight.

Twooter · 14/02/2014 16:36

Well I agree with you OP.

gandalfcat · 14/02/2014 16:42

I agree was nice to see, especially as William is reported as suggesting the Guardian journalist who first spotted him put his notebook away and lend a hand filling sandbags!

A link for the DM haters (like me!)

Having read it, it seems it was both an unannounced visit and the princes couldn't have been less accommodating to the reporters present.

Yes, well done them for wanting to help. They recognise the postion of extraordinary privilege they have and try to do good with it,

IamInvisible · 14/02/2014 16:43

No chip on my shoulder either.

If they really gave a damn, they would not have waited 6 weeks to have helped. They would have gone to Somerset, not held on until the floods were on their doorstep.

DrNick · 14/02/2014 16:44

oh ffs

bloody shitting Royal family

themessyapron · 14/02/2014 16:45

Well done them on getting some more positive PR. Knobs.

DrNick · 14/02/2014 16:46

they could...

GIVE SOME MONEY? gasp

ThatBloodyWoman · 14/02/2014 16:47

It's all about good PR.

Bowlersarm · 14/02/2014 16:49

Totally agree OP.

Well done to them. Showing solidarity in times of need. They are doing a great job.

Lottiedoubtie · 14/02/2014 16:50

The royal family is providing assistance to farmers in Somerset.

Why hate them, is it fun? I don't get it.

DrNick · 14/02/2014 16:50

why praise them? overentitled twats

LtEveDallas · 14/02/2014 16:51

The HCR (Harry's Regiment) were planned to go as one of the UK Resiliance Regiments, so I'm not surprised he was there - he still takes part in all his usual Regimental duties - as he should do. He is a soldier first and foremost. William wouldn't have had to be there, maybe his brother roped him in!

Good on anyone who helps out. But remember the soldiers aren't there out of the goodness of their hearts, they are also just doing their Duty.

BitWorriedNow · 14/02/2014 16:52

I wondered if he helped in that area as it is not far from the Middletons house he bought for them

Amrapaali · 14/02/2014 16:54

I really don't think its as easy to give money. What, just dip into your pocket and throw a bunch of tenners around?

I think they themselves cant get their hands on their own money. Isn't it all accounted for in Parliament? Someone more knowledgeable can help me out here....

Martorana · 14/02/2014 16:57

Can they "look the East End in the face"
now? Hmm

starlight1234 · 14/02/2014 17:00

I saw the news and was impressed..The media were not invited and William did suggest that they put the camera down and helped...

If they had given some cash they would of been told very easy to give money they haven't earned why not actually help..

Seems they can't win

DrNick · 14/02/2014 17:02

reslience?

BeeInYourBonnet · 14/02/2014 17:03

'I think we should use the royal family as sandbags' . Bubblegoose Grin

Martorana · 14/02/2014 17:06

What else could they do? Stop being climate change deniers for a start.....

claig · 14/02/2014 17:09

They are not climate change deniers. Prince Charles is one of the leading climate change believers.
