Vatican outraged by Madonna - again

Oh dear Madge is losing it. She's doing a Michael Jackson. Bring back Jarvis Cocker's bum.

Vatican fury over Madonna blasphemy

I suppose we should be grateful she's not going to have crowds of children on stage looking adoringly at her.

'cradle of christianity' takes it a bit far! To her its just the way she is I think that the church is taking it a bit too far! she is doing this to get the reaction they are giving her and for them to make out like every one should be outraged is wrong (just for the record, I was brought up just outside Rome as a good catholic girl!) So I do believe I know what they are like! How dare they even believe that she would want to be part of 'their' faith!

Rant finished! thanx for listening x

ssd · 04/08/2006 08:29

she's looking for publicity, has she got a tour or a new album to promote?

DominiConnor · 04/08/2006 09:42

I think eveyone gets what they want out of this.

Madonna gets loads of publicty about her new act.
The Vatican gets to look offended, and a story that doesan't involve the rape of thousands of kids.

Maybe they have sort of co-marketing deal ?

Quootiepie · 04/08/2006 10:08

Cant stand madonna... why not go the whole hog and make a mockery of the mass murder of millions of Jews in WW2 to line your pockets, you silly bitch. No ones listening you dried up old prune!

morningpaper · 04/08/2006 10:09

lol Dominic

Caligula · 04/08/2006 10:10

ROFL at DC's reliability.

"She should be excommunicated!" says Bishop

Erm isn't she Jewish now?

FairyMum · 04/08/2006 10:13

Well, I find a lot of what comes out of the Vatican and their 250 year-old pope really bad taste.

LOL DC

lacrimosa · 04/08/2006 10:53

get a grip its just religion!(runs and hides)

lemonaid · 04/08/2006 10:57

Her being Jewish now is about her not wanting to be Catholic. Excommunication is about the Catholic church not wanting her to be Catholic (oversimplfying, but that's the general gist).

I don't think they are believing "that she would want to be part of 'their' faith!" -- at least, the Jewish and Muslim leaders are also objecting and I can't see that they can all believe that she wants to be part of 'their' faith.

Personally I found the crap she spouted about children's literature far more offensive and annoying, but then I'm not a major world religion

DominiConnor · 05/08/2006 10:04

The pattern of these things is that it would hardly shock me if Madonna was found to be taking religious instruction from a Catholic priest.

Who will take a small wager that in the next year Madonna apologises (probably with tears) for abandoning her Catholic faith ?

All the techniques used by the Kabballah people to extract money from gullible rich were perfected by the Catholic church so there is an obvious synergy in their commercial interests.
Even a less cynical view is that if you're a priest and a sinner turns up on your doorstep, you are supposed to try and save them.

But I personally think that the great chantreuse is being badly advised. The ideal faith for someone like her is the Cargo Cults of the South Pacific.

They equate physical wealth with the favour of the gods, and believe that rich people actually gain magical powers.

They also come from places of great natural beauty, so she can get in on the great Green scams.
It is interesting that although B+ grade celebs get in on occasional bits of pretend environmentalisim, like whinging about the death of some cute animal, the A grade celebs hardly seem to bother at all.
Perhaps a gap in the market ?

arfishymeau · 05/08/2006 11:12

Oh FGS. One thing that really riles me is the church (with apologies to church goers who really do practise what they preach).

I think the Vatican should get off it's fat, bloated, WW2 loot-infested arse and start making a difference to people rather than being pompous about an attention-seeking popstar.

Roobie · 05/08/2006 11:20

Agree with Quootiepie's sentiments!

Callisto · 05/08/2006 11:59

She is sooooo boring. She only ever does things to get a reaction - ignore her.

Greensleeves · 05/08/2006 12:02

DominiConnor, the more I read of your posts the more convinced I am that you are actually Keith Miller from Eastenders

DominiConnor · 05/08/2006 16:03

To be fair to the paedophiles, their church does say many things about many important subjects. OK, they're the sort of things you expect a bunch of superstitious "former" Nazis and crooks to say, but they do say them.
Thery just don't get covered in the media.

Fact is the media loves stories about celebrities. One of my "favourite" BBC events one was about a computer screwup that stranded thousands at British airports.

What did the BBC think was the most important part of that ?
Was it ?

a) The dangers of a broken air traffic control system.

b) the technology that turned out not to work

c) the unhealthily close relationship between the people tasked to choose an ATC system and the vendors

d) the thousands of people whose holidays were trashed

e) "Many celebrities" were at the airports ?

(e) Got more than a-d put together.

tenalady · 05/08/2006 16:26

About time she grew up! I am really going off her tbh. All this drivvle about adopting a village of kids when she cant find time for her own.

TambaIsBadBadBad · 05/08/2006 16:30

I think I love you DC

Greensleeves · 06/08/2006 00:03

Yeah. Innit, Keef

expatinscotland · 06/08/2006 00:05

she looks like a dried out roast chicken.

are people still paying attention to her?

they're sad.

bosscat · 06/08/2006 00:06

god I'm getting old. I'm actually bored of Madonna now.

joelallie · 07/08/2006 13:02

Well at least she serves some useful purpose then
