Grin It could be though... It only takes one slightly overworked junior to mishear it in a meeting... Then the minutes are typed, and Hey Presto! By the time they realised it was too late and they had to follow through...

No, it isn't.
You think he wanted to reward articulate, intelligent women who encourage others to talk and plot and challenge the status quo?
Who occasionally make Men and Important People look foolish?
Who have no sense of their place and their role in the world, no sense of deference?
Happy New Year!
Can we have an emoticon with teeny tiny fangs?

we need a dignified silence. We know better.

You never know, perhaps Justine Roberts et al turned down the offer of an honour, in which case good for them.

Honours are pretty tacky things these days -- and it looks like this year they were awarded with even more cynicism than usual: a trawling around for women, to generate an illusion of combatting sexism and make the whole institution seem a little less anachronistic than usual. And OBEs to the NHS whistleblowers. These whistleblowers are good and brave people of course, but I think it is extremely unusual for whistleblowers to be acknowledged in this way, and I'm sure it is part of the govts intention to push this negative story about the NHS absolutely as hard as they can as part of their attempt to erode British support for it in the runn-up to provatization.

We are probably too mean for an OBE.

You have to be nice and sparkly, thats why Katherine Jenkins has got one.

ButThereAgain · 31/12/2013 09:48

We could hand out New Year honours of our own.

David Cameron ODFOD, PITA (first class).
