I'm shocked by this news - I really hope he pulls through.

The reports say his son was with him when he had the accident - I can't imagine what he must be going through having presumably seen the accident.

It's awful, I've been a huge fan for over 20 years.

Yes, I watched and supported him for years and years. I was worried when he returned to the sport in case he was injured, but then so many sports stars have risky hobbies.

The reports don't sound hopeful. I hope they are wrong.

me too. He was apparently 20 metres off piste, (not miles away in untracked territory) wearing a helmet and is an expert skier. He has just been horribly unlucky.

Yes, the off piste seems to have been in between two runs. I don't think I have ever had a skiing lesson where they haven't taken us on that kind of off piste. It's hardly back country skiing.

I've been worrying about him all day It sounds like he got very prompt attention and was protected to some degree by his helmet.

Sad to hear this, very poignant hearing the details on the news because my SIL has been in a similar condition since just before Christmas. Fingers crossed for both of them.
