Sad Newsflash - Canary Wharf Jumper

Kaloo20 · 21/07/2006 15:43

10 minutes ago a guy just jumped from the 15th floor internal balcony at Citibank. He jumped through the atrium. My friend was in the 1st floor canteen standing near the central atrium when it happened

Another life wasted. Friend pretty shaken up as he heard the scream, ran forwards looked over and unfortunately saw far too much.

How sad.

Kaloo20 · 21/07/2006 15:52

its very sad, if only he could have found the courage to talk to someone about whatever it was that was distressing him.

His poor poor family , my thoughts are with them

That's so sad

poisson · 21/07/2006 16:52

how odd to jump but still scream

cupcakes · 21/07/2006 16:54

I thought that. Was it the scream of someone else who saw him go?

That is so sad
Why post such an awful comment and then say sorry cod? Some things are not open to ridicule

puff · 21/07/2006 17:02

ok guys - I lost my mother to suicide but am not offended by cod's post - a lot of jokes come out of tragic situations

But you do need a clip round the ear fish!

hulababy · 21/07/2006 17:20

OMG! My friend works for Citibank; works at Canary Wharf. Hope she didn't see anything too distressing . How awful for everyone

Poor man. He must have been one mixed up person.

YellowFeathers · 21/07/2006 17:22

Hell

So sad that someone feels that low to take their own life.

Flossam · 21/07/2006 17:22

Should be looking forward to a lovely weekend, not plotting a way out.

bit public too which is rare isn't it?

CarolinaMoose · 21/07/2006 17:40

how dreadful

and awful for your friend

Kaloo20 · 22/07/2006 18:03

More of a uuughhh (air leaving lungs on impact?) than a scream - if you want detail. Not sure if died on route or on impact .... depending if he reached terminal valocity or not (takes approx 150 feet).

Rumour confirmed just after I posted when a colleague received a call from his friend in Citibank building telling him the same thing.

My friend was taken for a stiff drink shortly afterwards and kept company all evening.
