Great news.

"The 30-strong crew of a Greenpeace ship detained in Russia after an arctic protest could be home as early as next week after Moscow approved an amnesty law to pardon them."

Surprisingly scant TV coverage of this after all the protests about their arrest.

BBC Newsnight giving nearly all the emphasis on Putin's amnesty for Khordokovsky rather than the Arctic 30.

I've just switched over to RT and they're reporting that Khodorkovsky has left prison, and that other political prisoners have also been pardoned. I wonder whether the president of The Land Of The Freeâ„¢ will pardon Edward Snowden, Chelsea Manning, John Kyriakou etc etc etc. No, of course he won't. Corporatocracies don't like whistleblowers.

Well done Putin for what looks like the release of the Arctic 30 before Christmas. Let's see if our news media and BBC give Putin any credit for it or much mention of it.

Putin could have ordered them to be freed the day after they were arrested so I'm not sure he deserves any credit.

I'm glad the Pussy Riot members are to be freed as well.
