Hmm that is mean! Interesting theory from British gas too - I don't think!

saadia · 19/07/2006 13:09

it is funny though. And British Gas telling us to test central heating - that's just weird.

JanH · 19/07/2006 22:31

bump for late people

ROFL!

at the temperature on the buses and tube though - when will the first person die on the tube from the heat, do you think?

lanismum · 19/07/2006 23:17

am also shocked at the temp on the tube and buses, im walking/being driven everywhere at the min, i would def pass out on a tube, feel really sorry for the people that have no choice but to use the tube.

Not fair on Jade at all.

fuzzywuzzy · 19/07/2006 23:23

'But the National BBQ Association has warned Brits NOT to have barbies. They say heat from coals will make people overheat even more.'

Not exactly brain surgery that point is it??

milward · 19/07/2006 23:25

Other people in hotter countries use heat to cook? Why not brits?

fuzzywuzzy · 19/07/2006 23:27

I'd have thought everyone uses heat to cook, or get someone else to do it and buy a takeout instead.
But the advice in the Sun is rather simplistic and I just don't get the 'test your central heating' from BG are they nuts, or do they think sun readers are daft enough to turn up their heating in this weather???

JanH · 19/07/2006 23:28

I don't know about the males who cook at your house, milward, but DH sits about 6" from the barbecue turning things constantly (he's the same in the kitchen, can't let things just cook) and he gets quite a healthy glow in his cheeks from it in December, never mind now

Its far too hot... I feel like a blob... just moving make me sweaty!!

milward · 19/07/2006 23:31

I just let my dh get on with the bbq JanH - so don't know! We had a bbq on saturday - was hot & dh didn't seem to suffer from the cooking.

Beetle73 · 19/07/2006 23:33

Is there any proven link between hot weather and car accidents? Coming home this evening every driver on the road seemed to be driving like a catatonic moron.

milward · 19/07/2006 23:34

fuzzy - perhaps they mean that the thermastat, if it worked fine, wouldn't let the heating come on. On our system we set the heating to come on at a day temp & a night temp but now it's far hotter that both of these. Does this make sense? not sure if it does

milward · 19/07/2006 23:35

Probably beetle! I crashed whilst reversing yesterday - drove into a small wall I couldn't see and wreaked the underneath of our car. Really stupid of me.

Beetle73 · 19/07/2006 23:39

Ah Milward. That's what caravan towknobs are for. I don't think I'll ever have a caravan, but I don't have to worry when I reverse into walls.

milward · 19/07/2006 23:42

Great idea beetle73 - will consider getting one!
