Very fresh faced, very tight, beautifully made up to walk through those journalists today to get into court. It has knocked 25 years off her. Her PR team is working hard to clear her name, but is it enough .....

Well, presumably any one with half a brain can see that Saatchi is just a bitter and twisted bully who is out for revenge, surely?

The only way to punish her for walking out on him was to ruin her reputation, which is what he's been trying to do since that happened.

ShreddedHoops · 04/12/2013 15:42

Team Nigella all the way here. Even if she was addicted to drugs, which I doubt, she was being blackmailed as well as robbed by her trusted staff and physically and emotionally abused by her husband. No-one's perfect, but I struggle to see how even our woman hating media who love to knock celebs from their perches can make her the baddie here.

IroningBored · 04/12/2013 16:02

Saatchi is pretty vile all round. I think quiet dignity from Nigella and a fresh innocent face will see her through....

Merguez · 04/12/2013 16:14

"I did not have a drug problem, I had a life problem."

Definitely the quote of the day. As a PR person myself, I hope her PR wrote that for her!!

LadyBeagleEyes · 04/12/2013 18:41

What does it matter how she looks, her evidence in court was far more telling.
Jeez that man is a shit of the highest order, I'm so happy she made the break.
WTAF is Trinny thinking?

NorthernLebkuchen · 04/12/2013 18:45

The Telegraph put the two pictures side by side - Nigella in June after the Scotts photos and Nigella now. I found it very moving actually. She's getting through this and nothing can be worse than how it was then. How she looks today is important - because there will be women reading her testimony and thinking 'this is happening to me'. Those women need hope.

IroningBored · 04/12/2013 19:38

Yes it matters how she looks, its a PR game. Her evidence in court is unlikely to be the whole truth, its damage limitation time. I'm delighted she made the break, I've walked in her shoes but comparing the two pictures one is pre freshen up, the other post. Inside I am sure she feels juste as wretched as she did 6 months ago. Team Nigella too.

wetaugust · 05/12/2013 00:04

I posted earlier on I thought she looked great and quite empowered.

I'm just surprised she stayed in that marriage so long.

Unfortunately for her there are members of the public out there who will automatically shun here simply because she has admitted taking drugs.

The revelations may also kill her US fame stone dead.

She's very much the victim in all this.

MadameDefarge · 05/12/2013 00:59

yeah. because you are so going to turn up to court looking like you were dragged through a hedge backward.

Clean. Nice make up. Sober outfit.

Your point is what?

I cant see much difference tbh.

MadameDefarge · 05/12/2013 01:01

forgive me OP, but your OP did not seem to be that teamnigella.

Not that it should.

But it seemed to be suspicious of the fact that she might have made an effort to look decent when going to court.

As every normal person would. It sounded like a PR accusation. That's all.

Merguez · 05/12/2013 08:23

Well obviously Nigella can afford better PR advice than most of the rest of us, and it is doing her proud at the moment..

Not that there's anything wrong with that. And if you have been following this case closely much of the bunfight has been fought through PRs and blogs, so it is relevant.

thistlelicker · 05/12/2013 08:27

I thought she looked like she had
Work done personally

IroningBored · 05/12/2013 10:02

It's not that she will turn up at court looking dishevelled M.Defarge but the strain of divorce and months of emotionally bullying would show on her face. Its only natural.

I am suspicious that we are presented with a wrinkle and frown free Nigella and the press doesn't comment once on her 'new' appearance. Why ? Other celebs get hyper analysed.

Oh I also believe all the coke rumours, hence me saying will her appearance and PR team be enough to save Nigellas credibility ? I hope so but fear otherwise. Def Team Nigella

OP posts:
NanaNina · 05/12/2013 17:14

I think you are definitely in the minority here IroningBored According to what I read in the Guardian today she was honest enough to admit to taking coke with her first husband John Diamond who was a journalist and died on throat cancer when the children were quite young. The coke gave him a "bit of a release" from his terminal illness. She also admitted to smoking cannabis in 2010. She didn't have to admit to that - there would have been no way of finding out, other than by the Grillo sisters.

Are you sure you hope her appearance and PR team will be enough to save Nigella's credibility as I'm not sure that you do. How can you "believe all the coke rumours" when they are that - just rumours. If she was a coke addict it would have shown in her face, as addicts get spots and "gnarled" bits of skin around the mouth and nose.

LadyBeagleEyes · 06/12/2013 17:14

Poor Nigella. It really is her on trial here isn't it. The focus should be on the sisters innocence or guilt and I'm sure Saatchi has a hand in this.
He's a multi millionaire, the money they stole is peanuts to him and if they are guilty should be punished accordingly, but he has nothing to lose.
I'm sure it's him leaking all that stuff about her.
He is a real bastard, isn't he?

MadameDefarge · 06/12/2013 22:45

And let us remind ourselves of the point of this trial. Fraud.

Fraud on a massive scale.

Animation · 07/12/2013 08:23

She looked stunning and empowered! Gorgeous skin, very business like expression and quite a steely and focused gaze, and I liked the coat with the shirt collar showing underneath ..

A great look I thought - go Nigella.

perplexedpirate · 07/12/2013 08:30

I had a pretty big crush on Nigella before all this, but now...swoons!!
Whatever 'it' is, she's got it in spades. Envy

ExcuseTypos · 07/12/2013 08:44

I loved the way she walked into that courtroom. She knew the press would be there and was not going to look anxious.
Unfortunately she's used to putting a brave face on- miserable childhood, lost her mother, sister and then husband to cancer, then marries a controlling bastard and endures 10 years of his abuse. I hope she finds some lasting happiness when this episode of her life is over.

NanaNina · 07/12/2013 14:58

Oh well said ExcuseTypos couldn't agree more. It isn't clear is it who actually involved the police in this allegation of fraud. I suspect it was Saatchi with the motivation of "getting back" at Nigella after she left him, but not sure about the timeline as it was only relatively recently she left him I think. In any event it's all back fired on him so that's good. I think Nigella will recover - and yes she has I think conducted herself with dignity over this sordid matter.

Hi MadameD (she of twitter fame!)

Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 15:06

To be fair, she mentioned her fresh look as evidence that she doesn't do coke. She said, coke addicts don't look like this. So I love her look and would copy it if I could, but I suspect there is more behind it than just an empowered woman taking charge.

bakingaddict · 07/12/2013 15:23

I don't really care if she took drugs or not and have no strong feelings for either her or Saatchi. Lots of things go on behind closed doors and we have no way of really knowing what kind of life they had together. I have known people who have taken recreational drugs such as cocaine at weekends for years and they still managed to bring up kids and hold down full time jobs.

You cant really say her polished appearance means she has or hasn't done drugs. All I have to say is I'm glad any woman has escaped from an unhappy marriage and hope she overcomes any major issues that resulted from it

Beastofburden · 07/12/2013 15:29

No, I agree we can't say that. It's just that she said it herself in court, so I was interested in that.
